Notes

  • Superchips suggests using 91 or 93 octane gasoline to get the maximum power gain with their performance programmers.
  • 87 octane modes are not available on Superchips programmers for certain premium performance vehicles, including the Camaro, Corvette and others.
  • Flex Fuel Vehicles: fueling with E85 is not recommended in conjunction with your Superchips unit. Burning E85 reduces efficiency and power compared to using gas, which nullifies the effect of Superchips' programming.

"Great tuner and VERY easy to use!! Wish I had more time to rate this as I still am burning off my full tank of 87 octane!! I did use the 87 octane performance program in the tuner and it definetly tightened up the shift points!! Can't wait to use the 91 octane performance program....based on all of these other reviews it should be a hoot! Stay tuned!! PS: I only gave it a four because nothing's perfect!"

"After re-programming my 2002 Suburban with the Super Chips Programmer using 87 Octane setting, I had a noticeable increase in horse power. The only issue I have is that my mileage actually decreased by approximately 1.5 mpg even though I have been driving very conservatively."

"Instructions were clear, and the tuner is easy to use. I'm using the 'economy' setting, and it seems that in the first tank of fuel my truck went from ~13mpg to ~16. What's really amazing is that this is with a pretty impressive performance increase along with the extra mileage- so much performance that I have to watch how hard my foot goes down on the freeway- it takes off hard, even accelerating from 60 mph. one thing the tuner can't do (that I was hoping it could) is to allow me to advance the timing a bit- I burn mostly biodiesel, and advancing the timing is supposed to help the NOx emissions. No complaints on the tuner, just wish I had more info before I bought it."

"There hasn't been any noted change in fuel milage,shift points only changed slightly. I have tried the econo. as well as the towing settings. I installed a K&N filter as well as a flow-master muffler,new plugs(Bosh Platnum),no noted change to anything. then a Tornado in air intake. 2mpg change was seen from this instalation.All was checked on 91otc. gas after first using 87otc in econo.setting. Do you have any other suggestions to improve the milage. 2002 Dodge 1500 with 4.7 automatic 4x4. City driving 11-12mpg., Hw. 12-14 is the best I can get?"

"I put the superchip on my wife's Tahoe on the reg. gas setting.It increased the performance and maybe the gas mileage.I know the performance,because when I tried it out I heard tires squeal for the first time and it shifted smoothly out of second at 80 mph.We have not had time to check the mileage on the road, but back and forth to work it got about 15 mpg. I think that it used to get maybe 14 mpg.Not real sure on that.I am sure that before it got 18 mpg on the highway. Mark"
