Bought this module after I messed up the gas/air ratio of my Expedition using one those g force chips. It immediately ran smoother after installation. Only took 15 minutes to install. Gas mileage improved. Definitely need to use either Shell or ExxonMobil premium gas. Used lower grades and generic fuels didn't run as smooth. Very happy with this purchase. Auto anything was great with customer service.

I purchased this to try to increase mileage and add a little boost when hauling my Jayco 23B. Mileage has increased by 2 mph with the K&N Cold Air Intake and the Jet combo. We will see how it does on the highway this summer with my trailer. so far so good.

I drive the same route in the city every day twice a day and normally see 13.6 MPG. After I installed the Jet Performance module my MPG has improved. I now get an average MPG on that route of 14.2. It's not a huge improvement but it is an improvement. HP increase noticed from a dead stop to 35MPH as well as more HP when dropping the throttle at 45 to 50MPH. I'm happy.

did not fix the flat-spot between 3000 and 4000 rpm, but when the engine is wound up, over 4000 rpm it really performs. easy to install, gasket on unit may make it hard to snap it in place, very simple to detach battery and plug it in....

I have a 4.0 with headers, a K&N air filter, a high flow cat, a super coil and accell injectors. The injectors caused a significant loss in gas mileage and little to no power gain,(the exhaust is black) Will the JPM fix this or do I need to go back to the stock injectors before the JPM? The engine is a rebuilt one with 6,000 miles on it and the mileage is worse than the old engine that had 261,000 miles on it. Thanks.

Hello Albie. If you install the intake it the vehicle will not need an added chip or module to run properly. However, if you add the module you will get more horsepower and torque with the intake. If you inquiring about getting the chip, the Stage One will be fine. Hope that answers your question.

I want to order the Jet Performance Module Part#80528 for my 05' F150 5.4L 3 Valve XLT. On the actual Jet chip website it states that also works well with aftermarket air intake and exhaust and other minor upgrades. On AutoAnything I found the same module and part # but states that it only works on all stock vehicles depending if it's stage 1 or stage 2 if there is an option for it for aftermarket parts installed, that's not an option in this case. Could you please verify if the module found on AutoAnything will work on minor aftermarket upgrades such as K&N cold air intake and Flowmaster cat back force ll exhaust system and if it would be safe to install in my truck.
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Aug 03, 2012 4:26 PM
Hello. This item in the stage one would work with upgrades on your vehicle. They do not make a stage two for your vehicle and the stage one will indeed work. Thank you for your question.

What’s the difference between a programmer and a chip?
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Jun 28, 2012 10:57 AM
Well, a chip plugs into your vehicle’s PCM and stay there, always working. Though some do have several tunes, there is usually no choice between tunes, diagnostics or monitor display, and if they do, they require wiring and a switch to be installed as well. A programmer is handheld or dash-mounted device that connects to your PCM via the OBDII port. Programmers give you a greater range of tuning, diagnostics and monitoring capabilities. They’re more user friendly, and much easier to uninstall.

is it necessary to disconnect the negative lead to the battery before installation or can this unit be just plugged in? Does disconneting the battery reset the ECM or is it just for safety reasons> thanks, tom
Answered by Nathan S. — Jul 05, 2012 4:16 PM
Always disconnect the battery from the electrical system when working with electronics. You will avoid voltage spikes which can damage both the brand new module you are installing and various other engine sensors if you accidentally ground the wrong connection. If you want to save your radio stations, local parts stores offer a 9v battey and plug that hook into your power port and will not generate enough voltage to cause damage while allowing you to keep your radio settings.

Can this module be installed by just plugging it in or is it required to disconnect the negative lead to the battery first? Does disconnecting the battery lead reset the ECM or is it just a safety reason? thanks tom
Answered by Nathan S. — Jul 06, 2012 6:57 AM
Its mainly for both component and your safety, but resetting the ECM is a good idea as the information it has gathered for adaptive strategy won't be as close of a match as the basic settings on the ECM. Voltage spikes are the main concern as they can easily damage the sensors and modules on the truck which can be caused by grounding the wrong connections accidentally. You also run the risk of the vehicle starting and running away in some rare situations if you drop a metallic tool on the starter solenoid.. I would always recommend disconnecting your battery when working in the engine compartment of your truck.

Jet Tuner or chip?
Answered by Michael K. — Dec 20, 2011 3:31 PM
Hi John, Jet makes both a tuner and a chip (module) for your Ranger. Both deliver an increase in horsepower, torque and overall performance. The difference lies in how each is installed and the user interface. The chip plugs in under your hood and stays put. It has no adjustability, selectable tunes or readout. The programmer plugs in under your dash and gives you some in-cab control as far as tuning goes. It’ll also calibrate your speedometer and let you read and clear diagnostic trouble codes.
