Description

Want to boost your ride's horsepower but don't want to crawl under the hood to do it? Hypertech's Power Programmer III makes it easy: Just plug this self-contained automotive tuning computer into the under-dash diagnostic plug, answer a series of yes/no questions, and the Hypertech Power Programmer III goes to work.

The Hypertech Power Programmer III instantly recognizes your vehicle's power train by reading your VIN for specific information on the engine, transmission and drivetrain. For some vehicles (see Detailed Info), you can even tell the Hypertech Power Programmer III to tune your vehicle for optimal performance with 87-octane or premium 93-octane gasoline. Plus, it'll adjust for aftermarket components such as non-stock tire sizes and rear-end gear ratios, too.

For many vehicles, the Power Programmer III unlocks 3 stages of performance tuning. Stage 1 gives you a modest boost and may improve fuel mileage. Or, dial up to stage 3 for heavy-duty towing and intense thrust. Lifetime Warrnaty.

Notes

  • Please note that the 8th digit of the VIN Code designates which engine the vehicle is equipped with. Please verify your vehicle's engine code for proper Hypertech unit.
  • Flex Fuel Vehicles: fueling with E85 is not recommended in conjunction with your Hypertech unit. Burning E85 reduces efficiency and power compared to using gas, which nullifies the effect of Hypertech's programming.

"needed to change the shift points with 2.73 rearend works great. can change it if a I need to to adjust for theload I'm towing or if I need increase mpg it seems to have helped there. Very statisfied."

"I like the programer so far. I haven't used all the functionality yet, only the 87 power setting, but it works well. Haven't been able to do a real milage check, but it seems to be better. The performance is definately better."

"Installed unit and truck mileage improved to 20mpg from 17 at 73 mph. City from 15 to 18 mpg. Also have KN charger which makes noise when the pedal is pushed too far,. Kinda keeps ones foot off the accelerator! Lots more torgue and power. Regular fuel!"

"I installed a cold air intake along with the programmer at the same time. I have a noticable gain in throttle responese and my half ton pulled my 7ftx12ft trailer with 3 four-wheelers better than it ever has. It was worth the money to gain the towing performance."

"Purchased this product for a slight in crease in power while pulling a fifth wheel trailer. With in 15 miles of the house it had already caused the check engine light to come on because two parameters were beyond safe limits defined by the truck's computer. The power increase was noticable at stage 2, but not impressed with the system pushing the truck beyond truck's computer limits."

"My Hypertech worked very good on my truck it gave it a little of everything. It has more power on tork horsepower more gas milege the motor i revolutionized it to 5800 and the shift points are on 3,6,9 . Ohh sorry my truck is a silverado chevy truck step side with the 5.3 engine. thanks guys "

"Didn’t like the programmer and ended up returning it. The programmer was easy to use and did seem to increase the power in the low RPM’s, I didn’t see any increase in mileage. I found my truck was detonating during heavy acceleration, I called Hypertech and they just told me to try different thermostats but couldn’t tell me the best one to install for my application. I didn’t want to try a bunch of different thermostats so I returned the programmer. After the time and money for the programmer, thermostats and installation I didn’t think the power gain was worth it."

Tow Power

"We recently purchased a new FifthWheel Trailer, it is almost 2,000 lbs heavier than our last one and just about maxed out the towing limit on our 2004 Chevrolet 2500 HD crewcab Duramax. I used the "Hypertech" on our vacation to Colorado, (we just got back yesterday) and we were all amazed at the power and fuel economy we got on our trip. We had no problems pulling the steepest grade and we got an overall fuel economy milage of 12.4 mpg pulling a 13,500 lb trailer. Last year doing the same trip pulling a 11,000 lb trailer we only got 11.7 mpg."

"I have a 2006 GMC 4.8L with a 6" lift and 35" tires. This unit put the power and gas milage back after loosing it due to the bigger tires. I will buy this for all my work trucks now."
