Description

Want to boost your ride's horsepower but don't want to crawl under the hood to do it? Hypertech's Power Programmer III makes it easy: Just plug this self-contained automotive tuning computer into the under-dash diagnostic plug, answer a series of yes/no questions, and the Hypertech Power Programmer III goes to work.

The Hypertech Power Programmer III instantly recognizes your vehicle's power train by reading your VIN for specific information on the engine, transmission and drivetrain. For some vehicles (see Detailed Info), you can even tell the Hypertech Power Programmer III to tune your vehicle for optimal performance with 87-octane or premium 93-octane gasoline. Plus, it'll adjust for aftermarket components such as non-stock tire sizes and rear-end gear ratios, too.

For many vehicles, the Power Programmer III unlocks 3 stages of performance tuning. Stage 1 gives you a modest boost and may improve fuel mileage. Or, dial up to stage 3 for heavy-duty towing and intense thrust. Lifetime Warrnaty.

Notes

  • Please note that the 8th digit of the VIN Code designates which engine the vehicle is equipped with. Please verify your vehicle's engine code for proper Hypertech unit.
  • Flex Fuel Vehicles: fueling with E85 is not recommended in conjunction with your Hypertech unit. Burning E85 reduces efficiency and power compared to using gas, which nullifies the effect of Hypertech's programming.

"I used the Hypertech Programmer on my modified Jeep Rubicon, running 37 inch tires. In a recent highway trip to Moab, I really had more power! The only drawback is the additional 20 cents per gallon for premium fuel, but it was really worth it and my mileage stayed the same."

"I put in program 3 and immediately noticed what seems like a 15 - 20% increase in response in the throttle. The first tank at ten miles back and forth to work resulted in a 1.6 MPG increase. I found I didn't need to press the pedal as hard."

"like it alot you can feel the diffrence in torque and horsepower but theres a problem with something i havent figured out...when you change the rev limiter and shift points 1st 2nd and i think 3rd gear... when it goes to switch when your full throttle it automatically just stops and its like it goes to nuetral but if you dont mess with those things it does GREAT!!"

"I changed the programming on my Charger about 3 weeks ago. No noticeable change in gas mileage has been noted. Maybe a slight increase in mid-range power but that's about it. I think a throttle body spacer and a cold air intake would provide a better boost. The good part is that the programmer will give you any DTC codes that your computer has stored in it's memory."

"i am liking the extra kick when punching the gas but was disappointed to see my mileage go from 8 to 6 with the addition of this unit. power comes at a price! i am running an '02 av w/ 8.1 gas engine and use it for towing a car hauler, approximately 8klbs."

"The Hypertech PPIII added the final touches to my 2003 Corvette's performance modifications. After upgrading the Thermostat (160 Deg.), Air Induction and Exhaust Systems the Hypertech enhanced the Vette to the next level. The programming took less than 10 mins. to complete and the documentation is well written for the average tinker technician. A must have for Corvette gear-heads who seek the ultimate performance and horsepower from the LS-1 engine."

"Made a big change on my 05' 5.4 F-150. I'm guessing a gain of about 20hp and an average of 2mpg. Loved the change in shift points. Did not like the fact you can only use on one car @ a time. Over all worth the $."

"The programmer worked great for tunning the vehicle. The programmer worked great as far as setting different RPM ranges and shift points on the transmission.But if you are looking for better gas mileage it didn't make much of a difference."
