Description

Want to boost your ride's horsepower but don't want to crawl under the hood to do it? Hypertech's Power Programmer III makes it easy: Just plug this self-contained automotive tuning computer into the under-dash diagnostic plug, answer a series of yes/no questions, and the Hypertech Power Programmer III goes to work.

The Hypertech Power Programmer III instantly recognizes your vehicle's power train by reading your VIN for specific information on the engine, transmission and drivetrain. For some vehicles (see Detailed Info), you can even tell the Hypertech Power Programmer III to tune your vehicle for optimal performance with 87-octane or premium 93-octane gasoline. Plus, it'll adjust for aftermarket components such as non-stock tire sizes and rear-end gear ratios, too.

For many vehicles, the Power Programmer III unlocks 3 stages of performance tuning. Stage 1 gives you a modest boost and may improve fuel mileage. Or, dial up to stage 3 for heavy-duty towing and intense thrust. Lifetime Warrnaty.

Notes

  • Please note that the 8th digit of the VIN Code designates which engine the vehicle is equipped with. Please verify your vehicle's engine code for proper Hypertech unit.
  • Flex Fuel Vehicles: fueling with E85 is not recommended in conjunction with your Hypertech unit. Burning E85 reduces efficiency and power compared to using gas, which nullifies the effect of Hypertech's programming.

"Seen some difference in shifting and speed adjustments. Haven't seen much of a gas saving difference. So 1-10 I give it a 6. Too much $$$ for little difference in up grades."

"I installed just over a week ago took about 20 min can tell big differnts in power as far as taking off really jumps in second gear MPG has improved don't really have a good handle on how much right now it looks like it going to be anywhere from 3 to 6 MPG's I installed program 3 and have not had time to check out the other 2 programs I will run this one for at lease a month or more in order to check the MPG's in town and on the road I do know from what little I have drove going to town driving in town and back that the city MPG's are at 17.5 mpg's this is at lease 2.5 mpg's better in city driving. Will have to wait to see what happens when we pull the camper this summer we have a 32' fifth wheel. Right now I have no regrets this was a birthday gift that my wife purchased for me with help from my youngest son"

Great Product

Posted on 03/06/2007 by Berneta O. (Goose Creek,SC)

"Works as advertised and then some. A definite improvement in throttle response and acceleration. Mileage increase about three miles per gallon. Highway cruising is real smooth. The transmission shift points are raised leaving it in each gear until sufficient speed and torque are developed before shifting to the next higher gear. This is what really gives the impression of greater power. Overall it seems like a great product. It is too bad the factory doesn't install this type of program to begin with. I should have purchased the Hypertech Power Programmer years ago. I didn't know what I was missing. It seems like a totally different truck. No need to buy a new truck now!"

"I installed the premium program onto a 05 dodge. Drove around for a while and it seemed a little more respnsive than usual, But then took it the strip and ran a few 1/4 mile passes and matched them up to previous run times, NO DIFFERENCE WORTHY OF THE MONEY> Maybe 1-2 tenths quicker."

"I used the programmer on my 1999 Chevy suburban 5.7 350 before programming the burb was slow like it was meant to be from the factory. it ran well on 87 octane and I got 18-20 mpg @ 65, and in town 16mpg. when I programmed the car and noticed a change in the timing ( this is good) when driving around town I didn't notice any thing different in till I got on the highway very good pickup, quick response from the gas peddle, and no pining ( 87 octane) that night I was stopped at a light and no one around, I could not believe the power I smoked the tires and went from 0- 60 in a blink of an eye. now that I got that done I did the mileage doing 65 with cruse control I got 19-20 mpg . when I do 55-60 I get 23-24 mpg. I have not tried the higher octane gas ( cost to much) the 87 octane works fine for me. the only down side of the programmer to me is If you have another Chevy like me that would use the same programmer you can't because you can only use one programmer for each car. when you use the programmer it retains your old program so if you need to repair or program it back to original."

"The installation was simple. Went straight to level 3. For the money the upgrade was very noticable. Fuel mileage seems to be a little better even pulling my 30' camper. Also purchased a cold air filter. Out ran a gas powered dodge truck the very first night. Will be purchasing more later."

"I haven't driven enough to really form an objective opinion. I will say that after installing the "tow mode" level and restarting my vehicle I noticed an increase in the voltage being produced. It seemed like there was an increase of one volt more with the program installed. This even with new batteries. My next step will be to go back to my factory settings and see if my voltage goes back to what it was."

Hypertech Power Programmer III

Posted on 01/05/2007 by John A. - 1997 Ford F150 (Doylestown,PA)

0 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I have a 1997 Ford F150 with the 4.6L. When I called to order the Hypertech Power Programmer III, I asked what can it do for me. I was told that I would be able to make Trans adjustments, Tire size adjustment, Speed limiter adjustments, Tachometer adjustments and I would gain more horse power. Whats up with that? The only thing it allowed me to adjust was to 93 octane? Who wants that with the cost of gas? The only thing that I have noticed is a bad pinging that I did not have before. And if your thinking that I just did it wrong, NOT the instruction book told me that this adjustment for gas was the onle one I could do ???"

Best deal-AutoAnything-300C like a rocket

Posted on 01/04/2007 by Alton W. (Lubbock,TX)

"This unit is great. It has better throttle response, quicker acceleration, and along with the K&N cold air intake I feel like I am getting about 30 more hp and 45-55 more ft/lbs of torque. I would recommend this unit to anyone and you definitely get the best deal at AutoAnything. Gas mileage seems to be improved as well but with all of this new power I have yet to drive normal."

Not a Hyperpac

Posted on 01/03/2007 by Mark L. (Walled Lake,MI)

"Power isn't mind blowing or anything, but feels crisper upon accl. The 4.6 sounds healthier, makes my borla pipes sound better. What I really like is the trans tuning, I like to feel my trans shift, and this does it perfectly. My car surged lightly for 2 weeks at stop lights. Either it learned itself or I got used to it. Great product. Wish it was a Hyperpac though"

ask around what you buy

Posted on 12/28/2006 by Robert P. (Green Creek,NJ)

"The hypertech III ENHANCES your car or truck. Three or four times it takes to dial in. 25 min. to program & write to computer. That means every time you reset programmer you wait another 25 min. A snail could pass me before I finish! I have added a supercharger to it which took more time to dial in."

Worth The Money

Posted on 12/27/2006 by Carlos M. (Jacksonville,FL)

"This is a graet product and you can really feel the difference after you use it. A slight increase in the gas mileage but some increase is better than none. The only "Gripe" is that it doesn't address any other performance add ons like air intakes, throtle body spacers or mass airflow sensors. But other than that it's a great product and would reccomend it to anyone who likes to feel more power when you touch the gas."

Great Product

Posted on 12/27/2006 by Kent S. (Nederland,TX)

"This unit is nice and easy to use. While it obviously will not create a new drivetrain for your vehicle it will do enough for the engine and transmission to notice a difference. Allowing the high RPM range in conjunction with stiffer shift points seems to be what allows you to feel the difference. The other nice feature is the tire size and rear end ratio programming. I gained approximately 1.5 mpg on a highway trip. Mix this with a K&N cold air intake and a lower temp thermostat and there will probably be a little more HP. You need to be able and willing to upgrade to super unleaded fuel for the higher octane rating or purchase octane booster from your local parts store or the engine will ping."
