"The Edge deliveres on its promises. Setup and Install is easy, and operates efficiently. I just went on a long distance trip, and running in the Tow mode, provided excellent response and improved fuel economy. Physically, the black plastic mounting housing (fit to the vehicle) works well, but I spent some time to sand and paint to match the dash color."

"Fact: The stock 4.6 F-150 puts out approx. 231 hp. the only other mod that i have done to my truck is an exhaust system that added about 15 hp. After pluging in the edge evolution and filling up with 93 oct. fuel, i set the programmer to level 3 and ran the 1/4 proformance test...301 hp!!! Thats a 55 hp gain! Now, for you 5.4 guys thats no biggie, but for us 4.6'ers thats huge. i can't wait to get my CIA and other mods done!!!"

"04 F150 FX4 5.4l Installation was a cinch. Needed to install PC software and update programmer before I was able to program PCM. Programs Levels quickly. Remember to perform tire size custom setting when programming, makes a big difference. Performance is Phenomenal. If the truck had wings, I think she'd fly. Shift points are smooth and responsive. I set the display for Real Time and Average MPGs. Was able to use those indicators to control my impulse to stomp on the peddle and use the cruise control more often. No Joke. I estimated her MPG at around 14-15 hwy (I drive 170 miles non-stop one way to ranch). In the performance (level III) program and 90 octane, the truck is getting 19-20 MPG hwy. And 15-16 MPG city. Although it requires drive discipline to keep off the peddle. This unit is worth every penny paid."

2004 F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 5.4

"Goal - I was really hoping to get rid of the throttle-lag caused by the recent change from cable to drive-by-wire throttle systems that everyone seems to be going to. Unfortunately, I didn't notice a significant change in that department, but gas mileage seems to have improved by 1-2 mpg. Settings - The towing setting seems to be the best bang for the buck as far as fuel consumption vs. power. I've tried all 3 settings - Economy is lame (though better than stock), Towing is good (noticable power increase and short shift times), and I didn't notice a significant change between the performance and towing settings (aside from the extra $0.20/gal out of my pocket for having to use 91 octane with the performance setting). Installation - I'm usually somewhat leary about installing my own accessories, but this was really easy. The directions are clear and I had everything in within 30 minutes of opening the box. I didn't use the adhesives that came with it (or any at all for that matter) and the mounting piece that it comes with doesn't seem to have moved at all in the 3 weeks I've had it. Improvements - I do wish Edge would find a solution to the throttle lag issue. Also, I didn't see an option for color choices for the molding. I got a black mold though my dash is grey. Not a huge deal, but still sort of sticks out (however it's certainly better than nothing)."

F150 Edge Programmer

"The installation was quick and easy. I had it programmed in about 1/2 hour. I like the displays it supports. Changing from 1 mode to the other is very easy. Not sure saved any mileage savings with the first program. The preformance program is really good. I do have one problem. I think my unit has a problem. It seams to turn itself off and on when driving. Need to speak with the factory."

"It wasn't a "turn key" process but after I downloaded the updates the basic programs worked fine after I changed the tire size and softened up the shift firmness just a tad. It works best in conjuction with an intake and a cat back exhaust upgrade. So keep that in mind. Fuel economy is slightly improved but not as amazing as I'd hoped it to be. As far as towing and power goes, it's a fun little box to have running your vehicle's computer system. One thing I like the most is how many display options there are to choose from depending on what program level you decide to use. Personally, I like to display all of the accessory temperatures. Finally, a word of caution: Watch your lead-foot or you might draw some unwanted attention. Oops! =0\"

"Noticed immediate difference in shift firmness, in all three performance levels. As for power gains, didn't notice much of a difference. Fuel mileage has improved just slightly. This product is worth its price for its component monitoring capabilities alone. Tip: Do not tow on level 3. This severely overworks the engine and transmission"

"The edge really helped the performance of my truck. It dropped a full secong off of my 1/4 , mile time and picked up 7 MPH. My gas mileage has increased by 1-3 miles per gallon depending on if my wife is driving or not, I have a hard time keeping my foot out of the throttle. It is fun being ablr to beat the local ricers with my 4x4 truck. It has also helped with towing. I own a 25' enclosed car trailer that I haul my mustang around with and it pulls awsome know going up hills, on the thruway."

"Generally happy with the device. I have had a few minor issues with programs working for a few days then the engine starting to sputter. This requires I reset to stock then reprogram to the particular package I am using. Other than that I have been very happy with it"

"I debated on this purchase, trying to find the right programmer for my 03 F250 7.3 4x4. I purchased the Evolution Programmer which was more than I wanted to spend. It was at my door in a couple of days and running in my truck that evening. Now that I have had it for awhile, I can say it was worth every cent I paid for it!!! The power I got out of my beast is unbelievable... I highly recommend it."

"I installed the Edge programmer about a month after installing a K&N intake, Flowmaster catback, and a Poweraid throttle body spacer. It brought all the pieces together to bring my stock 0-60 time of 8.6 seconds down to 6.85 so far on Program 2. Mileage is up to just under 17 mpg. The truck is very responsive and flat-out fun to drive. Thanks."

Edge Evolution Programmer Review

"The Edge Programmer works very well. The application is very professional looking and matches the exsisting dashboard well. The double sided tape supplied with the programmer didnt stick at all. A trip to the local hardware store fixed that. The programmer is intuitive to use and the manual is very well written. Creating a custom program takes trial and error. Some of the available custom settings are adjusted with absolute measurements, such as tire circumference and gear ratio. Other settings are just values that mean nothing until you plug it in and give it a try (shift firmness can be plus or minus numbers which have no absolute way to measure other than the seat of your pants). I called Edge Products requesting the settings for their "tow" program to compare to the stock program, just for a baseline. I was told that their programs are proprietary. So, for any custom tuning you have to make small adjustments and go for a test drive. I suggest writing down your custom changes and I strongly suggest not messing with the spark advance from Edge's program -too much spark advance can harm your engine. I am very pleased with how my Expedition excelerates and shifts. The backlight has tons of adjustment for color and brightness. I am very pleased with the instantanious MPG display, which will allow me to find a good compromise between economy and speed. The Edge Programmer is a device that is very well done and will not just sit in a drawer after the programming is done. A very useful upgrade."

"The edge made my truck feel totaly different. I really like how it drives and feels. I would recommend the edge highly. Except for the new pricing that MSD is asking (I got mine just before the increase) MSD has priced itself out of competition."
