"This programmer was in addition to the K&N cold air intake and a dual Flowmaster exhaust. The truck was pretty responsive with the first two modifications, but things really came alive with the programmer. I can't speak to any improvement to the mileage since it has only been installed for a week or so, but I am also from the school of thought that you buy this type of stuff for the performance, not the economics. I personally expect a dramatic decrease in mileage since my foot seems to be a lot heavier now. As far as installation...it took a little longer than HyperTech claimed. Apparently I needed to upgrade the software for the programmer for my particular truck. I had to go to the computer and download the upgrade. Even though this was an extra step, it was VERY easy. Overall, it was a great choice to install the programmer. I would buy it again without hesitation. If you do go with the programmer, also buy an upgraded thermostat. They do not make one for the 2008 Dakota yet so I am not at the full potential of what it has to offer yet."

"My truck has the 6.0L and is a 4X4. I was averaging 11 MPG and after installation my mileage increased to 12.5 to 13 MPG, providing I keep my foot off the floor. I anticipate my highway mileage increase above 13. As expected the torque and power increased significantly. Hypertech's tech support was extremely helpful in answering questions GM dealers could not."

"I am very happy with the programer. I bought it mainly for the gas mileage increase, but i'm not going to complain about the added power. I'm running the programer in combination with a AEM brutforce cold air intake and a 3 inch catback exaust system with a flowmaster 50 series delta flow muffler. I average 15 to 16 MPG. Just crusing down the highway at 65mph i get 20-23 MPG. Now i think thats pretty good for a truck. OH thats on the preium fuel setting. I never tried the regular setting. Over all i am very happy with the combination. It drives like a whole different truck than stock. Alot more power and acceleration, throttle responce, and better fuel millage."

"I drive a 96 chevy K1500 with the 4.3L V6. The truck pulled fine on 265s. I put 33s on it and that killed the fuel milage and caused it to cruise poorly on the highway. This product brought my tranny up to speed by lowering the Lockup kickout points. The recalibration for tire size helped alot by clearing up the speed vs throttle position readings and setting the odometer. I didn't notice a big power change, but it cruises and crawls much better now and I am getting 21 MPG Hwy and about 16 city. The city could be better but I am hard on it in town."

"Wanted to see if I could get a little more power and better fuel economy from a programmer. I previously added a K&N intake and Magnaflow exhaust before adding this programmer to my truck. Speedometer correction is very precise. Added 3 horspower and 3 lbs torque using premium program according to the dyno. No more hesitation when I step on the gas. Gas mileage is a little better, but my driving is very random, both highway and in town, so i can't give exact numbers. Not sure what the numbers would have looked like if my truck was all stock. All in all, I'd say i like it just for the ability to change my speedometer for different size tires and the ability to read DTCs. The extra miles per gallon will eventually pay for the unit, and then save me money."

huge differance, lots of power and torque
and very controlled egt's. I have an '01

"I bought this for my 2002 Chevrolet 2500 HD 4x4 6.0 liter gas pickup because I needed a little more power to pull my RV. It is a fifth wheel that weighs about 10,000 lbs. About two weeks later, I installed a KN FIPK cold air intake. I didn't pull the trailer with only the programmer - I had already installed the intake when we went on a trip after installing the programmer.
As far as performance, the Hypertech really helped to firm up shifts dramatically. The truck shifts quickly and firmly. No more slipping between gears gear. In terms of power, I can tell a difference in power, but it is not dramatic. It is really difficult to tell the difference between improved throttle response and a earlier locked torque converter and true horsepower without a before and after dyno run. The throttle response is much better, though, and the truck is a lot more fun to drive. Not a sports car, but definitely a difference that my wife could readily notice when she drove it.
I chose the "regular unleaded" tuning. The programmer is worth the money in that premium gas was required when pulling the fifth wheel due to pre-detonation. With the programmer installed, I can pull the trailer with no problem using regular unleaded gas. With the difference between regular and premium usually averaging $0.20 per gallon and my truck getting 8 mpg while pulling (yes, it's awful...), the tuner will pay for itself in about 15,000 miles of pulling the trailer.
Hard to comment on any gas mileage improvement. The truck drives and sounds nice, and I tend to put the foot in it more now. Normal driving, my mileage is about the same (12.5 mpg). Pulling seems the same also at 8 mpg."

"OVERALL THE TUNER IS EXCELLENT IN WHAT IT CAN REPROGRAM AND THE PERFORMANCE RESULTS WITH JUST THE 87 OCTANE TWEAKING IS REMARKABLE IN THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE GAINS.
THE REPROGRAMING OF THE TOP SPEED LIMITER TO MATCH THE TIRE SPEED RATING IS THE LEAST GAIN IN TOP SPEED PERFORMANCE. I ONLY GAINED 5 MPH MORE FROM THE FACTORY TOP SPEED SETTING.
HYPERTECH IS LOOKING INTO THIS AT THIS TIME.
I AM HAPPY WITH THE END RESULTS OF THIS PROGRAMER AND WITH THE GAINS IN OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF MY 2009 FUSION WITH THE 3.0L V6. ITS NOT A 1/4 MILE DRAGSTER BUT ITS A LOT PEPPIER THAN STOCK."

"A little disappointed in the lack of "tuning options". Apparently for the 2004 Durango with 5.7 Hemi, you are only able to program for 87/92 octane, rev limiter increase of +500 RPM, and change vehicle max speed limiter. I was REALLY hoping for shift point & firmness adjustment. Also noticed that after I'm done programming, I now have a P0000 code that will NOT go away... check engine light is always on, but it's just this single code. :\ Overall, I'm satisfied, but a little disappointed."

"I purchased this unit for my 2008 F-150 and am totally satisfied. Only thing I am unsure about is the changes for the rpm and shifting speeds. Not knowing the correct response to the the questions causes some concern. I have seen an increase in HP and fuel mileage. By far the best for the dollar and I am no mechanic by any means. AutoAnything had the best price and it arrived very quickly and within 10 minutes I had the unit programmed into my truck."
