Got an itch to transform your sluggish gas pedal into a lethal weapon? Forget about bolting on expensive blowers, turbo kits and intercoolers. There’s an easier way to crank your ride’s performance up to 11, and it’s called the Banks AutoMind Programmer.
Instead of making your motor work harder, the Banks AutoMind tuner allows it to work smarter by replacing the limited factory programming with one of its sophisticated tunes. Just plug it in, pick a tune, and buckle up because your ride has just become a lot more exciting. You can pick between a power, towing, sport, and economy mode depending on whether you’re hot-lapping around town, hauling a cord of wood up to your cabin or trying to cut down at the pump. Plus, you can plug in your AutoMind and change tunes anytime.
Beyond the preconfigured tunes, the Banks AutoMind also lets you customize key settings. Adjust your rev limiter, recalibrate your speedometer, tweak the cooling fan, modify your shift points and more—the possibilities are limitless. And, your Banks AutoMind Programmer doubles as a full-service diagnostic tool, reading and clearing fault codes right in your driveway instead of at the mechanic’s. It’s also backed by a 1-year warranty.

Couldn't wait to get this thing. Registered it online (3 min). Then plugged it in and programmed it to 87 Performance (2 min). Wow, it really makes a difference. I had my son drive it to confirm what I thought, he agree'd, noticeable difference in performance. Then we tuned it to Fuel Economy (another 3 min), performance is better than stock. Too early to tell on gas mileage but I hope it improves, that's really why I bought it. Will keep you posted. Fun Gadget, It Works, I Recommend It.

Had a little problem at first with a auto mind connecting correctly to my truck. Called banks and they where very helpful, had to down load a update for the auto mind with my PC. Installed the super sport software and it was a dromatic difference in power, performance. This is my work truck and I was looking to increase my gas milage and this made a big difference all around. Just added a airaid cold air intake system plus a banks monster exhaust with power elbow that i also bought through autoanything. Was getting 10-11 miles per gallon and after two tanks im getting 14-15.

It was easy to install the program and it definitely adds power. Bought it for the economy mode and the jury is still out. Need to put more miles on it to know results. 2004.5 Dodge Ram2500 5.9 Cummings

I was hoping for better fuel mileage with my stock f-150. I gained just under 2 MPG when I set the chip to economy mode. It shifts much sooner than the factory setting and is great. The only thing is that went you really stand on it, it shifts hard into the next gear and bangs a little bit. Will pay for itself in no time with better MPG's, Well worth it.

I have two trucks. A GMC Sonoma (gas) and a GMC Serria 6.6 duramax diesel. I was leaning toward the Triple Dog Tuner because it can be used on more than one type of truck. It appears this might be true with the Banks Automind tuner also. Can I just download the program for both trucks and use one tuner for both?

Does the Banks AutoMind Programmer work on a 2012 GMC Sierra 5.3? I know the website says it works on the models up to the 2010 year, but Banks’s website says it works for the models up to the 2011 year.
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Jul 31, 2012 2:08 PM
In regards to your 2012 GMC Sierra 5.3L, Banks does not offer a Power Programmer for the newer vehicles because there are some significant changes in the computer and fuel management for the 2012 GMC/Chevrolet 5.3L trucks/SUV’s.
I do have alternative programmers available for the 2012 GMC/Chevrolet 5.3L
1. SuperChips FlashPaq Tuner
2. HyperTech Max Energy Programmer
3. DiabloSport inTune Tuner
4. DiabloSport Trinity Programmer
5. Jet Performance Programmer
These options all pretty much do the same if not better than the Banks AutoMind Programmer and can be just as beneficial to you as any other.

Ho does the stock tune and the tunes on this tuner differ?
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Jun 28, 2012 11:02 AM
Stock tunes are designed for everyday day driving, by everyday drivers under most driving situations. It’s kind of a compromise between ultimate performance and ultimate economy. The aftermarket tunes are just the opposite. You can tune for maximum economy, maximum performance, optimized towing, etc. And, you can always set it back to stock for your daily commute if you like

I have a 2003 Ram 1500 (4x4) with the 5.9 motor. The truck has 24,000 miles on it and I want to know what my options are with a Banks unit. What Banks tuner do I want? Does it have trans shift points adjustment? Any recommendations?? Thanks for your time Mike M
Answered by Thomas B — Aug 05, 2012 2:15 PM 2002 GMC Sierra
Banks has a couple options for tuners, but the basic tuner is sufficient for most everyday applications. The more you spend the more options you get in a tuner, but the basic tuner/reprogrammer gives you access to all your engine and transmission features. The basic gives you 3 or 4 maps, the top of the line will give you 6 maps or more, which most people don't need. So, if your using your truck as a primary source of income and do a lot of towing, go for the more expensive unit, if not, the basic unit will give you a ton of satisfaction.
