Great Tuner. A little hassle at first figuring out how to pair the bluetooth to the android device. So I called Superchips and they explained it to me. Long story short, if your device doesn't pair immediately, close out of the app, re-open it ,and when you re-open it, hit the menu button and you will be able to force pair the device to your android. But as far as the tunes go, This gets a 5 out of 5 from me. Woke my 5.4 up a little bit and helps me pull those heavy loads in the oil fields.

I noticed a hudge performance increase. I just added this tunner on top of my 4.7 with an injen intake and a mangaflow exhaust. Being able to change the shift points and get a nice increase of power. Win win

Auto anything was great! Fast shipping! But the tuner has a lot to be improved on. I went on a 800+ mile trip and used the Eco tune and it was less mileage than stock. Also the performance tune didn't really add anything! The best is a little better throttle response on the performance tune. The Bluetooth is a great idea but I have consistently no connection while running gauges and has to connect everything you turn off the ignition. Besides that I haven't got that far into the tuner.

Annoying set up. Have to download a program to PC. Had to call Superchips, got a baud rate error (Win7). Told me to shut off Security on PC and then to download an .exe file sent via email. Have to do that every time the programmer needs to be updated. Software is slow to run, taking up to 20 min to change a setting on the truck. No improvement in fuel save or performance mode. I could tell the truck had changed shift points, although the shifting itself was jerky and rough.

Started with a real good truck 2010 f 150 6 speed 5.4 3 valve engine added superchips vivid now I got a Great truck and i knew it in the first half mile before I even hooked my trailor.Plus the vivid can do so much more. It was a little pricey but worth every penny in performance and pulling power, gas mileage also improved but I wanted the power and I got it.

This product was easy to use and has improved the shift points and horse power of my 2003 H2 HUMMER without any loss in MPG. I actually think it is saving me a few MPG on the 87 octane tune setting versus the factory setting. Non the less, it takes off faster and is less of a brick now without any adverse effects. That is a huge plus for a daily driven rig. I have more options to try for sure, but am so happy with the noticeable difference at the moment. Like butter on ice for now vs. before!

this is the 1st chip that i have ever bought. it is for my 2011 F-250 superduty. i love the proformance it is giving my truck, but i dont see any mpg increase. it also doesnt let me in mileage part of the app on my phone. dont like how it makes me unpair and pair it again everytime i tune my truck. but i can diffinately feel the extra power when needed. overall its a pretty good buy.

2006 Gto 6.0L ....This tuner was difficult to set up initially I had a hell of a time trying to pair it via blue tooth to my Droid maxx phone. Once I got it paired the tune was fast and the app that you use via the market place is also nice. Only came with 1 installed tune for my car which was a bit of a let down. And when I tried to update the tuner via the internet that was no go as we ll . The performance tune is very nice indeed I can tel there is a little boost of power and better shift points. If our was not so difficult to set up and update I would give an excellent rating but since that's not the case ill say its a decent buy but awesome when out is working.

What do you mean by a “tune?”
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Jun 28, 2012 11:01 AM
Tunes are programs stored in your vehicle’s Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or onboard computer. The PCM controls everything in your engine, and the tune simply tells the computer what to do, and therefore tells your engine how to react under the given driving situation.

I would like to purchase this tuner for my 2003 Mazda B3000. It is basically the same as the Ford Ranger. Can you tell me if it will work on my vehicle and if I do purchase it and it does not work, what is the return policy after it has been installed?
Answered by Michael K. — May 24, 2012 4:04 PM
Although the Ranger and B3000 are very similar vehicles, some programming may be different. However, the Superchips Vivid Paq is available for your 2003 Mazda B3000.

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT quad cab 4x4 6.7 cummins diesel... What is the "best deal" without breaking the bank!!!! on a tuner that will aid in letting me know what the "check engine" light (that keeps coming on) and let me increase performance, milage etc ...
Answered by Nathan S. — May 01, 2012 4:55 PM
The Superchips VIVID Performance Tuner will give you quite a bit of information which is a very powerful tool. If you just want to check and clear diagnostic trouble codes, either a Superchips Flashpaq or Hypertech Max Energy programmer may be a better deal.

I'm really interested in learning more about why programmer manufacturers are going the mobile handheld route versus the more traditional external chip route like the Flashpaq tuning device. Can you explain what the main benefits of this VIVID tuner are over the Flashpaq? Is it mainly for convenience or are there better performance gains using the VIVID?
Answered by Michael K. — Apr 09, 2012 6:53 PM
Hi Andrew, great question. Performance chip manufacturers have figured out that with smartphones and tablets, there is no need to produce a handheld device. The first benefit is the wireless technology. Instead of having a long wire plugged from your device to your OBDII port, you just have a simple Bluetooth transmitter and your smartphone.
Next, the processors in smartphones and tablets are much more powerful than the processors in handhelds. This gives the tuners a lot more to work with when they write the tunes and programs for your vehicle. It also makes downloading updates and new tunes way faster and easier.
Another benefit is the display. Instead of some old fashioned LCD display, your phone or tablet has a vivid color touch screen, which is great for gauge displays and other vital heads-up information.
Better yet, instead of having some clunky handheld device sitting in your vehicle, you just take you phone or tablet with you when you park.
Finally, without the cost of having to produce an actual device, the manufacturers can focus on the programming, which means you get a lot more bang for your performance buck.

Most likely not, the Superchips VIVID Performance Tuner has been programmed to function with vehicles that still have all emissions components in place and functioning.
