I have a 2001 Dodge Ram with a 318 5 speed manual transmission. When I got the pickup I always had to downshift into 4th gear going up a steep hill by my hometown. Now since I added the programmer I am able to glide up the hill in 5th gear with no problem at all. As far as 1/4 mile it has a lot more get up and go. It winds up to 5,000 RPM's in first gear at a snap of the fingers and squeals the tires when I shift into second for a half a pickup length. It has never done that before. I am ticked to death with the performance I have gained with the programmer. Too soon to tell but as for gas mileage it has been very windy here so I have not noticed any change in gas mileage. Thank-you Hypertech for making such a wonderful product and thank-you AutoAnything for such a great deal. I will continue to buy from you in the future.

I honestly can't tell the difference with the product installed. Same fuel usage, same pull up hills. Could be from the vehicle having 120,000 miles and being 13 years old though.

Great product but not recommended for the layman. If your not familiar with tuning a vehicle before hand then adv do your research. Hypertech was not forthcoming about what the product can and can't do for the vehicle as well i.e. does not work with certain after market mods.I had installed a bigger throttle body which caused the engine to go into a lean mode after using hypertech tune ( not matter how hard I tried I couldn't resolve issue without falling back to default stock mode). So if you have a stock engine with no mods ( other than a cai or cat back ) then your clear.

Auto Anything is great to do business with. Hypertech is not. Recieved 14 pages of instructions for installation of the Max Energty Programmer for my 2004 wrangler rubicon. The trouble is most of the so called upgrades in the intructions do not apply to my vehicle. One of the upgrades that did apply was the ability to increse the rev limiter on the jeep. The instructions said that if this was done to definitely reset your shift points as this could cause damage to the vehicle. Guess what, the shift point upgrade was not allowed for the wrangler. One of the other upgrades I was needing was to correct my speedometer for tire size. This too was not allowed for my vehicle. Instead of sending 'generic' 14 page insturctions I would think each vehicle that this unit is supposed to cover would come with seperate intructions. And yes, you are right if you are thinking I should have researched this better. Hard lesson learned.

I had changed my gear ratios to 4:11's in my 98 Dodge, The description stated making changes to allow for the modification which was one of the main reasons for the purchase. While installing the programing I found out there several improvments that were not for my truck. Please state exactly what the programmer will do fpr the make, model, and year so we will Know befor the purchase. Yes definatly the truck performs better! But I wonder if allowing for the gear change the performance would be even greater!
