I always had sluggish throttle response, I installed level 1 software and it made a nice difference. My overhead mpg always settled down to 14.2 after a couple hundred miles. After 250 miles on level 1, it is still ticking up and is at 16.7. I do not plan on using level 2 or 3, as this is a 99 with VP44 and auto trans. The only reason I bought it was to try to fix the sluggish throttle response, and since it did, I will leave it alone now.

Need a little more

Wasn't as much power as stated, I don't think, it does improve mileage, and it will make the truck faster, but I think the smarty may have been the better choice, if your looking for performance.. It's a great tuner as far as, a little boost goes and getting good mileage.. Leave it on 3 and you'll still see a significant fuel increase and power, just not enough for me

It does actually help to boost and throttle respond faster

This chip does not work right out-of-the-box. There is a disclaimer you must call hypertech. They inform you that this programmer may cause damage to your computer and they are not responsible. So far my truck still runs power gains we're okay wasn't happy about the disclaimer would not buy again

Wide open.

This programmer works! I drive wide open, and I love the way it adds performance without affecting the daily driver status of my 01 Ram 4x4. 87 octane tune is awesome. Recalibrate speedo. Tranny shifts better. Read and clear codes. Awesome!!

WOW! Here's the facts. I programmed my old Dodge Cummins 4x4 automatic trans to stage three. This truck is only used for towing and the FAQs reccommended stage 3. My previous towing milage was 14.6 mpg while towing 5000 lbs. Reprogrammed I got 21.4 mpg towing at 55mph on cruise, and 21.6 mpg towing at 60mph. This was towing over a 1200' grade during a 200 mile round trip. Milage while not towing is about the same, 22.4 mpg as opposed to the previous 18 mpg. I now cruise up hills the truck used to struggle on with excellent throttle response. My only regret about buying the Hypertech Energy Max is that I didn't buy it years ago and save myself thousands by now.

Perfect Programmer

I had been trying to deciding which programmer to buy for my 01 Dodge Cummins since I bought it. My needs for a tuner were simple, I wanted: 1. Ability to correct speedometer 2. Increase fuel mileage 3. Increase Power, but not so much that it will destroy the weak factory 47RE Transmission & fuel system. This Tuner from Hypertech was perfect! not to mention they posts videos & dynosheets of vehicle specific tunes! This really was the perfect tuner for me! Now seeing 24+ MPG highway!(17 prior)
