Range Active Fuel Management Disable Device Reviews

Undecided

Ive been told its critical to turn off the afm on my vehicle to protect the longevity of the motor. I put the range device on and it did what it was supposed to do, im now in v8 all the time. I felt no differences in driving. Hopefully it will help over the long haul. It was cheaper and easier than getting a tune so Im happy with the cost and ease of it to meet my goals.

Exactly what I wanted

Reviewed By Ned R (Granbury, TX) Reviewed for a 2007 Chevy Avalanche —2/20/2015 9:23 AM

My 07 Avalanche is used for most of our travel as well as pulling our 21' travel trailer. I was very disappointed in the Avalanche power above 50 mph. The programmer has allowed me to pull the trailer about 10 mph faster and has increased my fuel mileage by 1 mpg. I did also add a K&N air intake. Now pulling the trailer is pretty easy. I also get improved mileage around town.

Chevy owners

If you own a Chevy with AFM "Active Fuel Management" and would like to deactivate this system on your vehicle. THIS WILL DO IT! AFM allows the engine to go from V8 mode to V4 mode in an effort to boost fuel economy. I have a 2007 Avalanche LTZ and it would shudder/vibrate as is changed from V4 mode to V8 mode. It goes into V4 mode everytime you let off the gas at any speed above 30 mph, then shudders as it swithes back into V8 mode. VERY IRRITATING. I took the truck to my machanic, they could not fix the problem, ended up at the dealership. They reflashed the computer for $90 said that would fix it. No change at all. Finally decided to try the Superchips in an effort to change the shift points and pressures in the tranny to see if that would help. Got my new Flashpag, plugged it in and to my surprise was an option to DISABLE AFM. YES! Problem solved. Runs great. Well worth the money to me for this alone, all the added performance programs is a bonus. Very happy.
