Mo Go - but a little more fuel cost

Reviewed By Thomas M (Carbondale, CO) Reviewed for a 2001 GMC C/K 3500 —7/2/2010 8:18 AM

Slam dunk to install. Had to remove 2 fuses but down loaded with no problems. Tuned to "regular" gas in an 8.1 GMC and had some ping but called in and the regular setting is set for 87 octane and I had 85 so bought some octane booster and solved that problem. Later fueled with 1/2 premium and 1/2 85 and so far no problems. Power gain is noticable, especially in mid range. A little dissapointed in the 87 octane setting as I was after performance gain as well as cost and ended up costing about a dime more per gallon for the 87. Haven't run enought to notice any fuel milage gain at this point and it is hard to keep your foot away from the firewall so we'll see if the additional performance is worth a dime/gallon. At this point I would recommend the programmer, however.

Worth the money

I bought this tuner hoping to gain some mileage and a little performance for my 2001 Ram 1500 with the 5.2 V8 mag. I went from a little less than 12mpg to sometimes over 15 which is a great gain. 50+ miles per tank. I noticed better throttle response as well. Also it's easy to use and loads tunes in a few minutes.

Notable Performance

Reviewed By Kevin B (LAKE CITY, FL) Reviewed for a 2004 Dodge Ram —4/3/2015 7:53 AM

Had this for about a month in my 04 Ram 2500 5.7 and could tell immediately a little extra punch on the throttle. I think I like the modified shift points the most. However, running in 87 octane mode the whole time and lost about .5mpg - I was sort of expecting a little improvement here. It does seem to idle a little smoother too.
