Bully Dog Hemi Plus Tuner Customer Reviews

Since the hotrod hey-days of the 1950s, there’s been one magic word, that when uttered, never fails to strike fear into all comers—Hemi. And now, Dodge’s hallmark of performance, legendary for taking trophies and pink slips on streets, strips and tracks around the globe, just got one better—the Bully Dog Hemi Plus Tuner.
The Bully Dog Hemi GT Plus takes your Hemi where it was designed to go. Along with insane bumps in power—to the tune of up to 32 hp—it also boosts your MPGs. In fact, if you don’t see an increase in mileage within 30 days, Bully Dog will give your money back. Of course, you gotta keep your foot out it, and with up to an extra 28 ft/lbs torque, that’s nearly impossible!
Along with delivering performance and fuel gains, it also acts as a gauge tuner for Hemi plus. The Bully Dog 40430 Hemi Plus Tuner features multi-function gauge monitoring for all your engine vitals. It also boasts automated engine protection that alerts you when reading hit the red zone. Even better, Bully Dog backs your Hemi Plus Tuner with a 1-year warranty.
Thanks to the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act: US Code – Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312, your vehicle’s factory warranty is protected by law when you add aftermarket parts. Details

Product wakes up my Dodge 1500. From a technology standpoint its a great product. But device falls short due to complete lack of documentation. Product has been on the market for the Hemi for at least 3 months now and STILL NO MANUAL available from Bully Dog. If it wasn't for help of other users on forums I would never got it installed. I still don't know what half of the options do as the documentation doesn't seem to exist.

After programming the tuner to fit my Dodge Ram I took it out on a test run. The power gains and shift firmness was on point. I used the premium setting and took my truck on a 180 mile trip and I noticed gaining about 1.5 miles to the gallon more than I have before programming the tuner. I give the Bully Dog Hemi Plus GT Tuner a 2 thumbs up! Great Buy! I would recommend to others!

I love it!!!!! I have Flowmaster exhaust, K&N cold air and with the tuner set to low octane gained 1mpg and on high octane setting gained 2 mpg over stock. Gained 1 mpg with C/A and exhaust for a total of 3 mpg gain average (modest) mixed town and highway driving. The tuner took care of the lean spots created by the C/A and exhaust, very pleased!!! The tuner did not have any instructions so I made the leap and used the instructions for the non Hemi tuner from Bully Dogs website. Problem solved

I have had it installed for about 2 weeks now. I have found out that economy tune seems to be more efficient on the highway while the performance is more efficient around town. I had added a 14 inch Magnaflow muffler fully welded from the local shop and then added K&N 63 HiFlow air intake with an Airaid throttle body spacer. Before the BD tuner I had actually lost some MPG but this got it all back and then some. Pedal response is awesome now and power is definitely increased.

Not impressed AT ALL with this item. Been tweaking cars and trucks for several years, and have never been this disappointed. HORRIBLE customer service! I grew a beard while on hold with them, then got cranky CSR's 3 different times that obviously didn't know their products. Economy setting didn't save fuel when driving like grandma, and premium setting didn't boost power when needed. Basically, this is an overpriced temperature gauge.

Had to call tech to update but wasn't a problem there.Had to go thru about 20 pdf's to find the right one to learn how to operate it.After going thru about 10 pdfs I sent a e-mail to their support, NEVER HEARD BACK. It did as advertised, the only problem is switching from 1 tune to the other takes so long. The tune on regular helped about 1/2 - 1 mpg and on 91 octane the gpms went up about 2 mpg till I got close to interstate speeds, there it dropped back to the regular tune.

Installation instruction are not very complete. Does not tell you that internet access is require to down load program in sales data. No user manual with product or available online. When calling for tech help be prepared for a 15-30 minute wait to get a tech.

Best buy I've ever made. I have already seen an increase in horse power and miles per gallon. The Bully Dog has also improved the towing capibility of my Dodge. Over all it runs much better, and a lot faster. You do have to keep your foot out of though, which is hard to do.

First off, I had to call tech support to have them update the system but that only took about 15 min. This is a must have!!! With the K&N Cold Air Intake from Auto Anything and this GT Hemi Plus my Hemi was brought to life. Well worth the money. MPG improved by 2 on regular setting and on race mode it comes to life. 2012 Ram 1500 4X4 Crew Cab on 35" tires. Thank you again Autoanything for another great product.

Hi, According to the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty of your vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part was the cause or contributed to the failure of the vehicle (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)). It’s always best to work with a performance-oriented dealership, but no matter who you choose, you’re protected by the law.

Would it be of any adva ntage to have the bully dog hemi plus instead of the triple dog gt on my 09 ram 5.7? If so what are the advantages?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jan 30, 2013 3:26 PM
Hi, The Triple Dog GT works great for your HEMI, and the HEMI Plus tuner is a newer version of it with different displays and additional tuning for the 2011-12 HEMI. You can use either tuner with your 2009 Ram.
