"The rack itself is very useful. Its large size is going to benitfit me extremly. The only bad part was the mounting feet as they really did not fit flush with my vehicle."

Great Accessory!

Posted on 09/06/2005 by Michele C. - 2005 Isuzu Ascender (Greeley,CO)

"The surco roof rack, is a great accessory. It had easy to follow instructions and is easy to install. It is very lightweight, yet durable. It was delivered to my residence quickly. It does add a little more wind noise when the sunroof is open, regardless of the visor. But it's easy off/on allowed me to remove it when I wasn't using it."

mostly pleased

Posted on 08/31/2005 by John M. - 2004 Honda CR-V (Gaithersburg,MD)

"Nice price, sturdy, all the functionality I hoped for. The only caveat I will offer other CRV owners is that the (fixed) areas for the mounting brackets on the CRV do not fit between the flat upright supports for the top rail. One cross bar has to go completely to the front (or back) and install on the outside of the support and custom drilling has to be done to assemble completely."

Surco does travel!

Posted on 08/28/2005 by William D. - 2004 Land Rover Freelander (Goldsboro,NC)

"I have enjoyed my Surco Roof Rack. It travels quite well and did not hinder the performance of my vehicle. It was easy to assemble and install on my factory roof rails. My sun roof operated as if nothing was over it. When not needed it is easy to remove and takes up minimal space in my garage. The only drawback (does not change my opinion of the product) was that my radio antenna is in the middle over the windshield. I am searching for a shorter antenna."

Easy and Quick Load and Unload

Posted on 08/27/2005 by Genaro D. (San Diego,CA)

"3 Summers I traveled without it. Took me a lot of time loading, arranging and fastening luggage. I even scratched the roof paint. This Summer I Used the Rack and It was great. It took less than half the time, I was able to unload parts without having to unload the whole cargo. No more paint sacratches. When I don't need it, it is easy to take the rack off the roof."

Surco Safari Roof Rack

Posted on 08/26/2005 by Naehyuck C. - 2001 Jeep Cherokee (Tempe,AZ)

"1. The supplied cross bars are only two. After I assembed and mounted it using four gutter mounts, it was not firm to hold a 245/75/16 tire. I had to order two more cross bars and a set of gutter mounts and eventually installed four cross bars and mounts. Now the strength seems reasonable to hold about 150 to 200lbs load, but eventually it made me spend unexpected money. 2. Also the upper surround square tube are rattling a bit. 3. Finally, holding a 275/75/16 tire for weeks, the cross bars are noticeablly bent. 4. The seperate order of cross bars do not includes necessary hardware. Some of them cannot be bought from normal hardware stores. Overall, it is good, but the price is not cheap when you need desired strength as expected becuase you need to install additional cross bars."

Rugged and versatile

Posted on 08/25/2005 by Andrew J K. - 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser (Cohasset,MA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I bought this for my 2003 Land Cruiser in preparation for a family vacation. The rack is deep enough to securely hold a number of items on the roof. It is light weight and sturdy. It really amazed me how much interior room was freed up when fully loaded. One word of warning. We have very low clearance parking garages here in Boston. With this rack, my wife was unable to enter a garage that was less than 6'7"."
