"I bought this rack for use on a camping trip! Installation was easy, and everything fit together the way it should. It hauled my gear with no problems, and made more room inside of my jeep liberty for dry items. Do not hesitate to purchase, it is a nice rack!"

"The rack arrived in great shape and was OK to assemble and install 9although the directions could have been clearer).  It looks great, works well but causes excessive noise at speeds above 65 MPH.  If I were to buy again, i would look for one with a spoiler because of the noise."

"Ive been looking for a few months for a nice roof rack under $300. I googled one day and found this site selling a Sucro RoofRack, a name brand product, for a very reasonable price. I payed and 5 days later it was shipped to my door in Louisiana all the way from Los Angeles. It was a pain to install even with a few friends. The brackets that mount to the factory luggage rack dont match up quite so you 3 out of 4 of the bolts are cross threaded but it holds up solid. Ive had a full size mud tire up on top bolted down and the racks holding it just fine. One last thing the directions are hard to understand and it took me awhile to full comprehend them."

Surco Safari / Channel / Spare Tire

"The value of the Surco Safari rack is hard to beat. I needed a basket that was wider than the typical 39 - 40 inches of most kits to clear Ham/CB antenna mounts. The kit has reasonably good instructions and extra hardware making the build quick and easy. Installation was more challenging - the channel system had screws that required shims to reach the square nuts - and finding a happy center took more effort than it should. The biggest negative was the spare tire carrier threaded rod; the paint should be removed before attempting to add a tire and wingnut. Otherwise the assembly will lock up due to caked finish paint. For a serious-looking reasonably durable rack that is half of the cost of many other systems, this one should not be overlooked."

Good but could do with some improvements

"I'd checked out a number of racks before settling on this one. In appearance it's great but... - assembling involves slotting 4 'L' shaped pieces together and then securing them with small machine screws into predrilled holes. One of those holes hadn't been predrilled and those machine screws are kind of small; - only has 3 bottom 'slats' as a floor leaving very large gaps, most camping gear will fall through; - it sits very high BUT MOST WORRYINGLY: - the rack mount bars are completely straight but the 4runners roof tracks are slightly canted - as you tighten it up it's trying to pull the roof tracks off the roof"

Sturdy but one "link" is weak

"I was happy to at least see for once something that says made in the USA. Hopefully that applies to all the parts. It was really easy to put together and secure to the top of the 4runner. Size is perfect. What is disappointing is that when we went to adjust the rack location, one of the bolts stripped and we had to use a bolt from the inner rack to replace the stripped one from the outside railing. Didn't do anything different to rebolt it, it just stripped going in. Weird. Would have been nice to have a few extra of these just in case. Hope that isn't a forshadowing of the quality of the others. Took a bunch of boat stuff and camping stuff packed in it 600 miles round trip and all was well. Want the cargo net too now. At this point we are happy with it, just leaves me a bit nervous about over time the security of the bolts. How about a few extra for just in case?"

"Awesome roof rack... looks good, light and practical. Little difficult to put together, you have to figure out a few things for yourself. Definately easier with two people. Still, it's awesome."

Mounted on full size Bronco fiberglass roof w/out factory rack

"The rack system is a good value. Durability does not appear outstanding but should be sufficient for my purposes of moderate off-road use. Installation of the track rail system onto the fiberglass room was much easier than I anticipated but fixing the feet into the rails proved fairly difficult. I wish it were easier to remove and replace the rack onto the track rails. If you intend to mount the rack and leave it in place all the time, this is a non-issue. Overall, I do recommend this rack as a lower cost/lower quality alternative to the Garvin Wilderness Rack product."

"Can't beat the price and ease of installation. If your installing one of these units on a Hummer H3 I highly recommend cutting out 1 3/4 inches of the support bars to rack assembly. The height is way to high and doesn't look right, but this may be something Surco addresses in the future. By modifying the height of the rack holder, it does not interfere at all with sun roof operation. I will be putting these racks on all my budget off-road builds I do for a living."
