Recently purchased the Surco Safari Roof Rack for my 84 Jeep Cherokee. Assembly and mounting were a snap. Materials and construction are very good quality. I am very pleased with the rack and would recommend it to anyone.

The product is sharp looking on my vehicle and well built. With this said I had the following problems/issues. First, the entire rack is a nicely painted black, however all of the screws and bolts are a shiny, unpainted metal color. Second, the mounting brackets (J200) for my S5072 rack have a trapezoid shaped metal piece with a threaded hole in the middle for mounting. This metal piece inserts into the factory rack track on your vehicle and turns sideways to hold your rack on the vehicle. In one kit alone 2 of the 8 trapezoid pieces were not threaded, meaning I had to take them to a machine shop and have them threaded, or send the kit back for a replacement. Third, The rack itself is screwed together with self-tapping shiny, unpainted sheet metal screws; two out of the eight screws needed for proper assembly did not come with the rack. I had to go to a local hardware store and buy two screws that were close to what they provided with the rack. To conclude, the product is sharp looking and is well made, however the company seems to fall short on quality control. I contacted them twice, once by phone leaving a message and once by email, which was never returned. I offer this as constructive criticism, only, as they have a great product if they can work out the kinks.

Ive only had the rack on for a short time so haven't really put it to the test, but it was easy to install and seems good and sturdy. I live in Alaska so sometimes delivery is a problem here. Auto Anything got it here on time and at a reasonable cost.

I have had my rack on my 96 Jeep Cherokee for a while and absolutly love it. It was very easy to put together and the install is simple. I do recomend having a second pair of hands to get it up on the roof. I keep my toll box with my recovery gear and my spare tire up on it. I would highly recomend it to my friends.

First of all the rack looks good. Whether it is functional or not is to be determined. Secondly, the instructions on assembly are terrible. The installation to auto part is also terrible. I called you for assistance and was told immediately to call surco. It took them 7 hours to call me back. Poor customer service
