"It was easy to install. The only thing I wonder about is how easily the protective caps for the base(used when the rack is off)might come off during travel. Will wait to see. Also, my Yakima kayak rack with its "square rail" attachment piece doesn't fit square on this Thule rack. It is at a bit of an angle."

"The rack was what I had expected although, I could not use it due to the wind noise. I just ordered the Thule Fairing for an additional $75. I plan to try the rack with the fairing this weekend. If the rack noise is improved it will be at an added expense. If it does not improve with the extra part and cost, I will not be satisfied. Overall, the rack is solid and easy to install."

"Shipment was quick! I do believe it was too costly though. Seems like alot of money to just hold up a carrier. One disappointment - it was not vehicle specific, so as a result, it is bigger than I needed and rods stick out slightly, but it surved the purpose and is working out fine. I didn't know I needed the rack system to hold the carrier on until the salesman told me though. I would think if you bought the carrier, they (Thule) should either include the rack or DRASTICALLY discount the rack. I am, however, a satisfied customer and will continue to buy Thule and Autoanything products."

"Traveling to New Jersey from Texas I found on the return trip I had more items to bring home than we started out with I decided to surf the net to purchase a cargo carrier when I came across Auto Anything. My first purchase was the cargo carrier. I went with the Yakima as the customer service gentleman suggested for my sized car. I did not realize that I needed the rack system until the carrier was delivered, therefore I had to stay another five days until the rack system arrived. I am a 58 year old female and I was able to install by myself. There was a little difficulty with the carrier as the clamps were out of reach because of the direction the unit opened. Fortunately I had a sun roof and was able to climb out there. After installation of everything and packing the carrier, I took the car for a test drive. All seem to work well so the next day we were off to return home. Well, aproximately 450 miles into the trip, the carrier flipped open and I lost nearly all my items. Fortunately no one was injured. The lock was not strong enough to endure a gust of wind that ripped that cover up. Nowhere did I read that I should perhaps use tie downs to secure that cover. I had seen many vehicles with these and many did not have additional ties. I only packed sheets, towels, pillows and comforters as I realized not to put anything heavy weight in there because a sudden stop would push everything forward and probably cause a hazard. I did not think what I had packed to be too heavy for the unit and it should have been fine if not for the strong wind that I encountered."

"I'm very pleased with the Thule roof rack. Ford doesn't make a roof rack for the Freestyle, so it was difficult to find a roof rack that would fit my vehicle. I researched everywhere, and once I found that the Thule, Yakima, and Westin systems would all work, but I chose the Thule because of the options it has for future purchases (bike rack, snow skiis, kayak, etc.) I also found that Auto Anything had the cheapest price compared to anyone else online or in a store for either of the three systems. I found that the next lowest price was $18 more, and with purchasing online, I didn't have to pay sales tax like I would in the store. I'd do business with them again."

"We are notorious for trying to do something ourselves rather than purchase something for the same usage. Example the Thule rack and stackers. When we took up kayaking we made a wooden rack which had to be secured to the existing roof rails. What a task each time we took the Kayaks out. Finally we purchased the Thule rack and stackers. Took both Kayaks and a Thule cargo box on vacation with us. It was amazing how simple it was to secure all and to take them down when needed. We would have had much more enjoyment out of our Kayaks in the past if we had just given in sooner. Della and Ernie "

"I needed a ladder rack for my Ascender. There isn't one made that works so I went th the Thule Rack. So far it has worked very well. It would be nice if it handled more weight but overall I would recommend it to anyone."

"After traveling quite a bit with the family i decided to upgrade and purchase the thule rack system to add to my factory rails. Once I received the package in the mail it took only minutes to install the mounts and crossbars. I was impressed with how well constructed this product was and I would definitely recommend this to anyone having an existing rails sytem to go forward and purchase this complete rack system by thule. It has a huge impact on how you travel and is well worth the money I paid for it."
