He directions are a little rough around the edges, but once I figured everything out this rack rivals Thule or Yakima. Very happy with the outcome, and I had no problem taking my two kayaks up north. Good buy!

The rack is sturdy and well constructed. It is easy to put together and I like that its position can be adjusted based upon what you want to carry. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it would be nice if it had cross-bars. Also - be wary, it will probably reduce your MPG because it messes with the aerodynamics of the car. So it might be best to keep it off the car if it's not being used (unless you think it's worth it because it looks cool).

I was not impressed with this system. When tightening the clamps down for the rack base, the rubber started coming loose from one of the clamps. I tightened it down anyway, but the rack came loose from the car while driving. Luckily it didn't fly all the way off the roof and hit another car. I believe the one clamp was defective since the others did not separate from the rubber.

Phone rep honed in on the model I needed for my load size and weight right away. I received it quickly. Every step in the instruction manual was clear except one that should have been written better. Took me overnight and sleeping on it to figure out what the heck it meant. Also the straps I was recommended were not adequate. Too narrow and not long enough. Once I got the cargo box on the roof, I secured it barely enough to get to the hardware store and get a great professional 4 pack of straps.

Installed the 2500 Series with aero bars. Almost no wind noise.Occasionally high whistle at low speeds. Instructions were adequate, once I figured them out. No need for 8 keys for locking system. Two keys came with each base. Love the look of aero bars. Definitely recommend this system. Much cheaper than Thule and definitely as sturdy.

Relatively easy setup for those with DIY knowledge. The kit does come with a measuring tape with both metric and english style measurement. I can't stress the need for measuring multiple times to make sure you have the distances correct and the bars are straight. I used this on a 2012 Volkswagen GTI and it works wonderful. If you don't fear a little do it yourself work I highly suggest this product.

On the original manufacturers rack system, you have to do quite a bit of work to install their racks. including, lifting up the plastic insert piece and drilling out some holes etc. I tried to read the install instruction for the drx on the sheet, but wasnt sure what was involved? ie. do you have to drill into the car? thanks.
Answered by Nathan S. — Mar 28, 2013 4:45 PM
Hi, No drilling is required.

What type of accessories are available for this rack? What other items are required for securing of rack-mounted equipment? What material are the "clamps" made of? Will they mar the paint/finish? Why are there no reviews from Acura TL owners?

I just bought a 2012 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4 King Cab. I want to make sure that this is the same as the listing "SE, King Cab" shown for the Rhino-Rack 2500, has a smooth roof and a channel on each side, but no factory-installed tracks or anything like that

I am looking at purchasing two items from your store, however I want to make sure they are compatible with each other and also compatible with my car. I have a 2009 Mazda 6 sedan. I will be transporting two kayaks at around 60 pounds each.

Hello. The INNO kayak carrier will work with most base and factory systems because of the universal fit clamping mechanism they offer. Thank you for your question.

As I do not need the bars for 2 cars... can I only buy the clamps for the Q7 (without the bars)?
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Jun 07, 2012 12:38 PM
Hello. We do not offer the clamps only, so you would need to purchase the entire set in order to acquire the clamps. Thank you for your question.

Hi Tyler, Rhino-Rack designs these to work just like a factory rack, they will not interfere with your doors' operation.

My 2004 Accord had Yakima towers before, but with two bikes up there, the towers would move rearwards after a while at freeway speeds. Especially if we have the "bras" on the bikes! Are these towers more secure?

Has anyone seen any paint scratching etc. with the clamps. In the mounting video, it looks as though the clamp is a hard material that makes direct contact with the painted surface in the door jamb
Answered by Douglas G. — Apr 18, 2012 8:46 PM 2012 Hyundai Elantra
The clamps have a thin layer of rubber coating on the inside. I picked up some clear vinyl on ebay and cut a piece for each tower and clamp so that no piece of the rack directly contacts the paint. The vinyl is easy to put on and remove. Maybe not needed but what the heck my car is still new.
