the adaptor mounts easily on the roof rack with basic tools. It clamps the ax and shovel firmly to the rack. For safety I added a lock washer to the hardware that is provided to tighten down the clamp.

From time to time, I need to carry things like an interior door (say 32"x 80") or an extension ladder on my Ford Escort. Will a roof rack work for this sort of thing? Obviously, the two main considerations are that these items do not come loose or tear the rack off the roof. Some highway driving is involved. Thanks.

Hello. Your vehicle is not made to carry ladders and doors on your roof. We do carry various racks for your vehicle so you can carry luggage, Cargo boxes, and other accessories.
