"I was attracted to the capacity, waterproof status, compactibility and price of this unit. It impressed on all counts. It was easy to use, is well made, folds to a relatively compact size and deems durable indeed. Highly recommended."

"We used this on two long trips this summer, and on both trips we encountered extreme heat and heavy downpours. Everything emerged unscathed and we had no problems with the clips opening up in the heat, which I was a little worried about from other reviews I read. The bag is very thick with good quality zippers, which is probably why everything stayed dry. Some of the items we stuffed in it had sharp corners and the bag withstood the stress. It's tough. We got the larger size and I'm glad we did -- you never know when you'll need that extra space, and when you need it you really need it (I was a little concerned it would be too big for our '03 Honda CRV, but it fit perfectly fine).
It's also very easy to put on, take off, and load. It was also really nice to be able to just fold it up and leave it in the back of the car after unloading it at our destinations or in the garage when we got home -- takes up very little space which is a big plus over the plastic carriers. When packed full we didn't even need bungee cords to strap it down, and there was no flapping. When not full you need to crisscross bungees across it and tuck in empty spots, but it's no big deal.
The only marginal negative is that the bag really doesn't maintain the shape you see in the pictures unless you load it with a big trapezoid, so in practical use this bag isn't any more aerodynamic than any other and will knock about 3-5 mpg off your gas mileage. It just looks like a big lump on top of the car like all the other roof bags.
So it's not pretty, but it sure gets the job done and is very easy to use and live with. I'm extremely happy with it overall and would recommend it highly."

"I used this for a 1000 mile trip to the beach. It performed well and did not leak. I drove through some downpours with no leaks. The downside is the velcro is tough to deal with while zipping closed. But when closed it help keep the zipper water proof. The size I bought was too large for my Sienna roof system, but it still worked fine.

"I BOUGHT THIS BAG FOR SOME EXTRA LUGGAGE ROOM FOR THE TOP OF MY EXPEDITION. I USED IT JUST THIS WEEKEND AND FOUND IT TO BE VERY CAPACIOUS AND WATERPROOF - AS WE FOUND OURSELVES IN A FREAK SNOW AND RAIN STORM HERE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WHILE i WAS TRAVELING WITH THE BAG FULL AND EVERYTHING STAYED COMPLETELY DRY. i DID ELECT TO USE AN ADDITIONAL TIE STRAP ACROSS THE MIDDLE TO MAKE SURE THE LOAD DIDN'T SHIFT DURING TRAVEL. i AM PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT"

"After researching your site I took a chance on this bag. The deciding factor was the other positive customer reviews, they were correct. We just finished a two week road trip through wind, rain and snow abd the bag was great. The only down side is that they should offer a bigger version."

"I just completed a 1000 mile trip with the 15 cubic foot Sherpa Bag on top of my Volvo station wagon. It worked great; no problems of any kind. I didn't encounter poor weather, so I can't comment on water proofing. Only negative issue is security. You can't lock or secure the bag (besides locking the zipper tabs together), so you have to unload the bag each night. Great purchase."

"Very roomy and attached nicley / easily to our van's roof rack - we didn't see need for extra tie downs - does have to be pretty full to make sure thing don't slide around - can't comment on the rain resistence since we didn't encounter any our our trip."

"We found this bag to be user friendly and a terrific addition to our trip from Ohio to Hilton Head. It had plenty of space for a suitcase, two duffel bags, beach towels etc.
We didn't encounter any rain or bad weather so I can not speak to its ability to repel water but it seemed as if it was water and air tight, given the sturdy zippers and velcro closing. Extremely happy with this purchase."

"Our Sherpa bag held more then we thought it would and was easy to load and install. Our only complaint was the clips are plastic and we were afraid they would break after tightening down our load and driving on the freeway. the weather was hot and they were opening up so we got some additional zipp ties so nothing would come loose! I'll use double ended brass snaps the next time we load up!"

"We bought the 15 cubic feet sherpa bag prior to our vacation. What a lifesaver. It was easy to use. The flaps covered the heavy duty zipper and even when we encountered rain everything was completely dry. We stuffed it full with luggage for a family of 6. We did have soft sided duffel bags, but I'm sure it would have been fine with hard sided luggage. Really happy with this purchase."

"We recently traveled through six states for our vacation.
The exra storage the Sherpa bag provided was a blessing.
We had extra luggage and baby items for our grandchildren, who would be arriving by plane at our destination. In addition, we also traveled with our golden retreiver.
The bag remained very secure on the roof rack once the tie downs were tightened. We also drove through rain periodically and everything remained dry. The extra tight velcro flap over the zipper closure kept everything secure and dry.
Our vehicle is a Mercury Mountaineer. The bag fit wll into the space between the cross over bars on the rack.
It did not interfere with the sun roof at all.
Storage of the bag is convenient.
You just fold it and tuck it away.

"Overall, we are happy with the bag. It is sturdy. We had one previously that flaked pieces off after one use! The velcro is secure but the down side to it is it is hard to undo when you want in the bag. A nice sturdy, secure bag for the money!"

"Was going to rent a big SUV for a 3 trip stop vacation in Fla. for 7 people Decided to use my mother's Toyota Highlander with 7 person seating, take all luuggage out of the car,and put it all in the Sherpa-2 hard pieces,4 soft pieces, and Lacrosse equipment. Worked well and saved over $800 in car rental. Rained a little, flap over zipper preserved water proofing of seam, cleaned off the bugs and was as good as new. Impressed with the thickness of the material."

"This bag is easy to load and tie on to the vehicle. In our case, we have a roof rack. It is very secure. It holds a lot of stuff. We put in two sleeping bags, a tent and other gear and had room for more.
However, driving through rain got everything wet. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how it happened. It's got solid zippers and a great velcro closure and I had all of that down, things still got wet. Sitting out at the campsite, the inside got wet every time it rained. I experimented, but found no way to keep the water out. And found no way the water could get in. No holes. No gaps. No seams.
Don't know if I got a bad one, or if they all leak. It holds my stuff, but I wish I'd paid more for something more watertight."

"Took our Sherpa Bag on top of our 2000 Ford Windstar factory installed luggage rack on a trip from Cleveland to Niagara Falls Canada. We could not be happier with the results. On the trip there we filled it very full and had virtually no movement. Coming home we didn't fill quite as fully and as a result of it being a very windy day we had slight movement and noise but it kept our luggage dry from rain and safe from wind. A really reasonably priced easy to use product. My husband and I would highly recommend it!"
