If your interstate starship (aka: the family Astro Van) is getting so cramped that an hour drive to grandma’s feels like it takes light years, it’s time to give your crew some extra elbow room by packing your gear in the Yakima RocketBox Pro 12 Cargo Box. Like a booster rocket for your roof, the RocketBox Pro 12 holds all your travel essentials, from luggage and Tang to fishing tackle and space ice cream.
Designed to fit perfectly on rides with smaller roofs, the Yakima RocketBox Pro 12 boasts a more compact footprint than traditional rooftop cargo boxes. But, it’s still packed with out-of-this-world features, like dual-side opening, push-button access and SKS lock cylinders to keep Jabba’s space goons from making off with your valuables.
Thanks to its smart mounting design, Yakima RocketBox Pro 12 Cargo Boxes fit securely to round, square and oval-shaped crossbars. Inside each one’s belly is 12 cubic feet of weather-protected storage, so you can drive through rain showers–or meteor showers–without fear. Plus, you get a Lifetime Warranty.

I'm told the box only opens about 12 inches so getting a suitcase in would be difficult. Is this true?

Hi, The box is 16" inches tall, so the opening is close to that.
