If your interstate starship (aka: the family Astro Van) is getting so cramped that an hour drive to grandma's feels like it takes light years, it's time to give your crew some extra elbow room by packing your gear in the Yakima RocketBox Cargo Box. Like a booster rocket for your roof, the RocketBox holds all your travel essentials, from luggage and Tang to fishing tackle and space ice cream.
Designed to fit perfectly on rides with smaller roofs, the Yakima RocketBox boasts a more compact footprint than traditional rooftop cargo boxes. But, it's still packed with out-of-this-world features, like dual-side opening, push-button access and SKS lock cylinders to keep Jabba's space goons from making off with your valuables.
Thanks to its smart mounting design, Yakima RocketBox Cargo Boxes fit securely to round, square and oval-shaped crossbars. Inside each one's belly is 12 cubic feet of weather-protected storage, so you can drive through rain showers–or meteor showers–without fear. Plus, you get a Lifetime Warranty.

I have Yakima racks, and the Yakima powder hound snowboard clamps already, so this was a no brainer. I bought this for additional gear, as it fits next to my clamps (which already hold 4 boards), or use it for 4 more boards. I'll be using it for my boards when the roads are wet, because the salt from one trip is enough to corrode edges and eat away at bindings. The construction seems solid, and judging by the way my other Yakima products have performed I ecpect to be completely satisfied.

Took the RocketBox 14 on it's first road trip (650 miles) on top of our 2012 Rav4. It was rock solid, and never moved an inch using the factory rack and cross bars. MPG dropped by about 2. Everything stayed dry through a brief light rain. As far as space, I easily fit 4 good sized duffel bags and a few other smaller items. Overall I'm quite happy with it. Taking it off the car was very easy and I didn't require any help but putting it up there was much easier with a hand from my wife.

Love it. The 11 cubic feet is certainly not the biggest, so if you have a lot of gear go up in size. But this is perfect for my needs of 2 huge climbing packs of gear and a tad more. Yakima makes a bomber product. Love that you have to lock it when you close it.
