The carpod cargo carrier works amazingly! I'm currently using it while we move from Fairbanks, Alaska to San Antonio, Tx! Highly recommend it! It's the best cargo carrier out there, by far!

Like the overall size. CARPOD Carrier, Lid, and Bag. Upgraded to the 3' Raised Shank. However, when inserted into hitch the pin hole stopped 1/8 inch short, because it was blocked by the bumper (due to the angled shank). I could not insert the pin. I had to rush out to buy an $30 extender the night before leaving on a vacation.

Be careful opening the box because it's likely you may need to return it unless you have the metal fabrication skills needed to finish the build. The holes on the main tube did not line up with the holes under the basket so I needed to make them larger to get the two pieces together. I called the company and they graciously allowed me to redrill the holes without voiding my warrantee. I only wish my powder coat machine wasn't in the shop. I anticipate rust soon at the drill sites.

I purchased the cargo carrier, lockable lid and cargo Cover/bag. I just used the carrier on a 30 hr long round trip. Very easy to assemble and use. The cargo cover worked very well as we drove through several rainstorms and everything stayed perfectly dry. The cargo carrier easily held 3 - 4 large duffle bags and two carry on sized bags with no problem at all. This freed up a considerable amount of space inside our Chevy Tahoe and made for a more comfortable trip for all of our passengers.

Using the Carpod Cargo Carrier has allowed much more comfortable travel by allowing enough room for people traveling in our van to actually stretch their legs and keep them stretched. The rear carrier has eliminated the need for a car top carrier, which is cumbersome and difficult to use with a full size van. We have also been able to attach 2 children's bicycles to the top of the cargo carrier, further increasing our vacation activities.

how do i determine if a raised or straight shank is needed for 2012 lincoln navigator?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jun 25, 2013 7:59 AM
Hi, It depends entirely on your need for additional ground clearance. If you don't have a steep driveway and don't plan on hauling a lot of weight, the straight-shank carrier may be the best for you.flag Accept Answer

I have never used this type of equipment. I am just wondering if I can connect the product easily to a hitch mount as long as it is a 2" receiver. Thank you!

Does it have two different sections? It almost looks like there is a divider in the middle?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jun 10, 2013 7:54 AM
Hi, Nope, it's one compartment. The picture creates a bit of an optical illusion with the center strap on top of the carrier.flag Accept Answer

Do most people leave this on their car or do they take in on and off? Is is difficult to put on and remove?
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Jul 06, 2012 2:23 PM
Hello Cathy. The Carpod easily attaches and detaches from the hitch mount, so you can take it off whenever it is not being used. Unless you always have cargo to tote (sports equipment etc.), it might be easier to navigate around town without the cargo carrier. Hope that helps!flag Accept Answer
