Wonderful alternative to roof rail system!

Reviewed By Julie P (Sterling Heights, MI) Reviewed for a 2011 Buick Enclave —2/26/2012 4:03 PM

We purchased this carrier to hold luggage for a family of 6 to travel from Michigan to Florida. We have a leased Buick Enclave and didn't want to spend the money purchasing the cross rails to be able to use a hard sided roof carrier. This was the only option out there I could find that did not require a roof rail system. At first, the straps seemed confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it is extremely easy to install. We removed the short pieces from all straps and still had more than enough to go around. Please note that the optional clip strap set did not work with the Enclave. We used the non slip pad under it and I think that definitely reduced some potential noise. On the return trip, the pad somehow got a bit crumpled underneath and I could hear a bit of vibration noise once in awhile. Be careful to pack things so it fills out the sides and nothing is loose or you will probably hear some vibration. One other drawback is that we got a lot of wind noise inside the car since the strap prevents the rubber seal from fully blocking that out. The way ours was packed, we couldn't get all the velcro to go together, but since we never drove through rain, I cannot comment on how it holds up against water. All in all, an excellent purchase if you don't want to invest a lot more money in roof rails and a hard luggage carrier.

Looks great, works great

Reviewed By Steven C (MADEIRA BEACH, FL) Reviewed for a 2006 Jeep Commander —9/10/2015 10:43 AM

Everything went together fine, the product itself is very functional and practical. It's about 50 lbs. so that limits my total load on top to about 100lbs if following the specs of factory crossbars, but I pushed a little over 100 lbs with no problems. Needed two TALL people to fit it on the top and to get the mounts to stay in the right place before securing it.

Handy Camping Trip Addition

Reviewed By Benjamin D (ARVADA, CO) Reviewed for a 2000 Toyota Sienna —6/2/2015 8:37 PM

We bought the Rightline Gear Cargo Saddlebag to carry our tent & camping gear for our big cross-country trip to the Grand Canyon. Our minivan fills up fast with goods to feed, clothe, & entertain 3 small children. Per others' recommendations, we put a covered sturdy piece of plywood on the bottom. The Saddlebag: - Gave us needed space to travel efficiently & effectively - Was fairly easy to assemble & install - Is no worse for wear after 1,300+ miles over mountains & through deserts
