Thule Glide and Set Watersport Roof Rack Reviews

Good Rack but I Prefer Thule J Racks

Reviewed By Kirk B (Blue Springs, MO) Reviewed for a 2003 Chevy Suburban —6/5/2012 8:54 AM

We regularly carry three touring kayaks on top of our Chevy Suburban Z71 that has the roof rack with integrated rear roller. I use the Thule 835pro Hullaport Kayak Rack(folding J Rack) for the boats on the outside the Thule Glide and Set for the middle. The Glide and Set mounts occassionaly slide out from position on the aluminum crossbar. This has happened at highway speed and it is unnerving as you see your kayak through the sunroof fall down to the cross bar and start sliding sideways on your roof. The boat just naturally pushes the mounts outwards as you tighten the straps. I can't get the mounts any tighter. I think I will wrap some old bicycle tubes around the cross bars to increase friction. But given the choice, I would choose the Thule J Racks over the Thule Glide and Set because I think they are easier to load an defintely more secure.

Works great

I found this pretty easy to install, and quite adjustable, once you get the hang of it. I had no experience with roof racks and was able to get it on the first day.

Sturdy and easy to install

Reviewed By David J (MONROE, GA) Reviewed for a 2013 Infiniti JX35 —8/30/2014 3:21 AM

Simple installation, easy operation, and apparently secure. I've used it twice now and am pleased with the product. The J-hooks appear a little wonky on the sloping roof line of the Infiniti JX (factory cross bars), but the 'yak rode smooth and stable in the cradle and included straps. Wind noise is evident, but no more than expected.
