I have found the step to be very handy. It is nice to have something to step on that is removeable to reach in the bed of the pick up.

I did my homework on this and selected the Yakima round bars along with this fairing for my Land Rover LR3. Without the fairing, the bars howl above 70 mph. With it, the sound disappears. I don't know what the aeroblade-types sound like, but I'd venture to guess that the round bars with fairing are a better option, since the fairing would appear to direct wind not only over the bars, but also over any (moderately high) cargo on top. The wing-shaped bars look cool, but have no fairing option.
