CURT Roof Mounted Cargo Rack Reviews

Extended version

Reviewed By David H (HAGERSTOWN, MD) Reviewed for a 2003 Honda CR-V —5/2/2015 8:12 AM

Rack assembled fairly easily. One screw hole had to be enlarged. Two person job to place it on top of the vehicle (2003 Honda CRV). Used this with a Rightline bag and it all worked great. Later hauled three 4X8 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood on top of the rack. Worked great. Excellent rack for the money.

Sturdy and easy to mount

Reviewed By Patricia A (TRINITY, FL) Reviewed for a 2003 Honda CR-V —7/31/2012 2:27 PM

Rather then pay $500 to our dealership my husband and I decided to "Do It Ourselves". Thanks to the great Honda design the rack mounted easily and we were done within 30 minutes. Overall we saved ourselves a couple of hundred dollars and are quite pleased with the appearance and durability of the rack.

Survived cross-country move

Reviewed By Amber F (Philadelphia, PA) Reviewed for a 2003 Honda CR-V —7/4/2011 12:27 PM

I recently moved from Philadelphia, PA to San Diego, CA. I drove across country in a CR-V filled to the roof and this cargo bag strapped to the top. I must say that this carrier met and exceeded my expectations. I don't have a roof rack, so we had to thread the straps through the car. That made for some wind noise, but that's no fault of the product. I will say that I purchased Thule straps separately; from prior reviews and then seeing the included straps, I wasn't getting the warm-and-fuzzies about their reliability. I packed this probably beyond capacity, but I fit all of my clothes, blankets, and 2 big bins (think Rubbermaid boxes) plus some random other things in there. I had it filled so that the zipper flap was unable to be folded down. In Indiana, we sat in a major overnight rain/thunder/lightning storm, hail included. The next day we checked the bag, and to my pleasant surprise, only a few drops actually got in. I did not purchase a water-proof liner, so I was very pleased. This would fit a whole lot of luggage for a vacation, or, as in my case, half of your worldly possessions. It stood the test of 3000+ miles, Midwest storms, Kansas winds, Arizona and Mojave desert heat, and lots of bugs. Great product.
