We used the Carrier for a beach trip that was mostly highway driving. It did the trick and fit a lot of our stuff in it. We don't have a roof rack so we had to put 2 straps together and secure it through our car. It took an hour to figure this out before we left. That was not fun. However, it worked great once it was secure. It does make a lot of noise but that is because it is not aerodynamic. I would recommend it to a family that needs the extra space without using 2 cars.
