Rightline Gear Sport 3 Car Top Carrier Reviews

Well constructed and made it through a storm with no leakage.

I purchased the unit to carry my soft goods on a camping trip to the Adirondacks. Came through with flying colors. I used it in conjunction with my Surco Safari Roof Rack. I used a web netting over it as a precaution, however I don't think it was needed. I did purchase the water proof interior liner, however did not use it on my first trip. No damage with 466 miles at 75 plus a hour speed in rain and sleet. I give the product a thumbs up.

Surco Safari Roof Rack Reviews

Nicely made product; vendor needs better quality control.

The product is sharp looking on my vehicle and well built. With this said I had the following problems/issues. First, the entire rack is a nicely painted black, however all of the screws and bolts are a shiny, unpainted metal color. Second, the mounting brackets (J200) for my S5072 rack have a trapezoid shaped metal piece with a threaded hole in the middle for mounting. This metal piece inserts into the factory rack track on your vehicle and turns sideways to hold your rack on the vehicle. In one kit alone 2 of the 8 trapezoid pieces were not threaded, meaning I had to take them to a machine shop and have them threaded, or send the kit back for a replacement. Third, The rack itself is screwed together with self-tapping shiny, unpainted sheet metal screws; two out of the eight screws needed for proper assembly did not come with the rack. I had to go to a local hardware store and buy two screws that were close to what they provided with the rack. To conclude, the product is sharp looking and is well made, however the company seems to fall short on quality control. I contacted them twice, once by phone leaving a message and once by email, which was never returned. I offer this as constructive criticism, only, as they have a great product if they can work out the kinks.

Looks great, works great

Reviewed By Steven C (MADEIRA BEACH, FL) Reviewed for a 2006 Jeep Commander —9/10/2015 10:43 AM

Everything went together fine, the product itself is very functional and practical. It's about 50 lbs. so that limits my total load on top to about 100lbs if following the specs of factory crossbars, but I pushed a little over 100 lbs with no problems. Needed two TALL people to fit it on the top and to get the mounts to stay in the right place before securing it.
