I mounted it across the back of my Jeep JK. It is awesome for shade at the beach and camping. It did require making some 4"-3" L-brackets but there are ones out there to buy if you are mounting it to a rack.

I'm very satisfied with my new awning room. The best part is that it mounts onto the awning hardware that is already on my Jeep. I can set the whole thing up in less than 10 minutes with no fuss. Beware of using this with a very lifted vehicle. You might have the bottom of the room not touching the ground.
