Rhino-Rack Roof Mount Cargo Basket Reviews

Great rack but mounting a problem

Reviewed By Jerry O (SPOKANE, WA) Reviewed for a 2005 Mazda Tribute —4/3/2013 7:08 AM

Good solid rack but mounting on a Mazda Tribute is a problem. The issue is that the car side rails taper down toward the front which causes in the front aero cross bar to be very close to the hood. This doesn't allow use of the bottom clamp cushion or the long hex bolts in the front because they would strike the hood. I had to remove (not use) the underside cushions on the front crossbar and buy shorter bolts to effect the mount. But it seemed to work and the rack is fine.

Worked well for me.

I have only used it once, but thus far I am satisfied. Managed to fit sleeping bags and pads for three, two camping chairs, plus a couple of personal bags and some small odds and ends. Sturdy construction (once closed and locked). No major effect on gas mileage. Relatively quiet (notable noise, but can still have a normal conversation in side). Note: If you're a jump right in without the instructions kind of person, remember that you can only open one side at a time. I recommend this box!
