Putting the rack together takes a little trial and error. The hardest part is putting the spacers on the bottom of the bar which keep the feet in the appropriate position. Don't force the foot as far as it can go, rather; only position the foot to where the spacer meets. When you tighten the connection, the spacer will fit into place. A couple of millimeters makes a big difference when putting the rack on your roof. Also, buy a wind fairing at the same time. I didn't thinking I would be able to put up with the noise. Once the car got between 35-40 MPH it sounded like I was going to take off.

We are notorious for trying to do something ourselves rather than purchase something for the same usage. Example the Thule rack and stackers. When we took up kayaking we made a wooden rack which had to be secured to the existing roof rails. What a task each time we took the Kayaks out. Finally we purchased the Thule rack and stackers. Took both Kayaks and a Thule cargo box on vacation with us. It was amazing how simple it was to secure all and to take them down when needed. We would have had much more enjoyment out of our Kayaks in the past if we had just given in sooner. Della and Ernie
