We purchased this carrier to hold luggage for a family of 6 to travel from Michigan to Florida. We have a leased Buick Enclave and didn't want to spend the money purchasing the cross rails to be able to use a hard sided roof carrier. This was the only option out there I could find that did not require a roof rail system. At first, the straps seemed confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it is extremely easy to install. We removed the short pieces from all straps and still had more than enough to go around. Please note that the optional clip strap set did not work with the Enclave. We used the non slip pad under it and I think that definitely reduced some potential noise. On the return trip, the pad somehow got a bit crumpled underneath and I could hear a bit of vibration noise once in awhile. Be careful to pack things so it fills out the sides and nothing is loose or you will probably hear some vibration. One other drawback is that we got a lot of wind noise inside the car since the strap prevents the rubber seal from fully blocking that out. The way ours was packed, we couldn't get all the velcro to go together, but since we never drove through rain, I cannot comment on how it holds up against water. All in all, an excellent purchase if you don't want to invest a lot more money in roof rails and a hard luggage carrier.

Bought racks for my 2012 Subaru Legacy Sedan. Looked at Thule and Yakima, more expensive and not as well built and looking in my opinion. If you are looking to get a good set of racks you can't beat the price. Trust me I researched extensively.
