Ideal solution to road trip

Reviewed By Linda K (Palm Desert, CA) Reviewed for a 2007 Subaru Outback —7/10/2014 10:20 AM

We are going on a long road trip and needed a place to put our Klepper foldable kayak on our Yakima roof rack. We drive a 2007 Outback Subaru. The kayak comes in 3 separate bags but we wanted something to conceal and protect them from theft and weather. The Rhino-Rack is an almost perfect solution. Everything fits, cable chains are locked to the roof rack and we only need to access occasionally on a two month trip. The only issue was it was TOO big for our needs.

ace car top carrier

It's terrific for a roof top carrier, but the straps STINK! Even the car clips (an extra purchase) didn't help. Be ready to get some good tie downs instead.

Use rails!

Reviewed By Iliana H (Weslaco, TX) Reviewed for a 2009 Chevy Traverse —3/30/2015 8:27 AM

This is an excellent cargo bag of excellent quality. I called in the order and was told I could use it without rails. This is true, however, I wouldn't do that again. It was a constant worry that the bag would move. And in fact, it did. It slid back at one point. We stopped and purchased a cargo net for peace of mind. But the bag quality is excellent and it is definitely water proof. It's a very thick well insulated bag. But it is a bit of a pain to get it on the car and tie it down.
