Sturdy but one "link" is weak

Reviewed By April V (Ventura, CA) Reviewed for a 2004 Toyota 4Runner —6/3/2008 9:04 AM

I was happy to at least see for once something that says made in the USA. Hopefully that applies to all the parts. It was really easy to put together and secure to the top of the 4runner. Size is perfect. What is disappointing is that when we went to adjust the rack location, one of the bolts stripped and we had to use a bolt from the inner rack to replace the stripped one from the outside railing. Didn't do anything different to rebolt it, it just stripped going in. Weird. Would have been nice to have a few extra of these just in case. Hope that isn't a forshadowing of the quality of the others. Took a bunch of boat stuff and camping stuff packed in it 600 miles round trip and all was well. Want the cargo net too now. At this point we are happy with it, just leaves me a bit nervous about over time the security of the bolts. How about a few extra for just in case?

Good affordable rack, extendable.

This is a well built rack for the price, and infinitely extendable with the optional middle piece. It is sturdy and pretty easy to assemble. Does add some wind noise, but anything on the roof will do that.

Good Product Experience

Reviewed By John A (CLEVELAND, TN) Reviewed for a 2016 Toyota 4Runner —11/8/2017 10:10 AM

All in all a good product. I do get some noise w/ this on my 5th gen 4Runner, at 40++ MPH. Haven't taken it on the highway yet, so hope it not too significant at 70 - 75 MPH. Where the basket comes together on the sides (connecting front to back) they come in at a bit of an angle, so there's a low point in the middle of the basket, on the side's just not exactly level from the very front to the very back. Would be nice if it was just one solid basket, not two pieces.
