Freed up our 3rd row seats

Reviewed By David T (Louisville, KY) Reviewed for a 2007 Honda Odyssey —6/17/2010 4:16 PM

Works great. It held way more than we anticipated. We have an '07 Odyssey, and we were able to fully utilize the third row of seats by placing some of our vacation cargo in the saddlebag. We went about 750 miles to the beach - 2 adults, a 4 year old, and a 17 month old - and all their stuff! The saddlebag was very secure. We used the main straps attached to the factory rails (the ones that run front to back - not the accessory rails that cross left to right), and the long strap that goes inside the rear hatch. We did not use the short straps for the underside because there's not a good place to attach them to the van, and it was plenty secure without them. There was virtually no additional noise, and you really don't know there's anything there while driving. We didn't go through any rain, so I can't comment on that, but everything I have been able to evaluate is excellent. A couple final notes: the bottom is not rigid, and I read in a review somewhere that someone made a 1/4 inch plywood panel to give it some bottom support. There's a pocket in the bottom, and I made a panel for mine that slides right in, and helps the bottom rest on the bumper. Also, someone suggested taking a photo of your license plate, and printing it to tape in your rear window if the bag covers your plate - another good idea we used. Highly recommended.

Does Exactly What The Expensive Ones Do

Reviewed By Laura G (Elgin, IL) Reviewed for a 2006 Ford Explorer —4/6/2010 5:54 PM

My husband was a little leery about buying a cargo bag instead of a cargo box. He was worried it wouldn't be sturdy enough. Well we drove from the northwest suburbs of Chicago to Panama City Beach, FL, and the bag shows no wear or tear. Lucky us, we did not have any rain going or coming home, so I can't say anything about whether it's waterproof or not. This bag is huge (we have the 18 cu ft one)! It held 2 extra large samsonite duffel/suitcases, 1 large suitcase, 10 beach towels, 2 beach chairs, and about 3 small bags. Once my husband figured out the straps the first time, the second time was much easier. It's definitely worth the money.
