We are a family of 6 traveling in a minivan for about 11 hours from MA to VA for a camping vacation. We filled up the saddlebag with our light but bulky items like pillows and sleeping bags and some bags of clothes. It holds A LOT!! We didn't even notice the bag on the car during the drive, no wind resistance or anything. It was a dream to use. We did follow other people's recommendations, and cut a thin piece of plywood to make the bottom of the bag more sturdy. When we stopped overnight at a hotel on the way back, we just unhooked the bag and brought it into the hotel room with us, then reattached it in the morning when we continued our ride home. I would definitely recommend this item. I have used a rigid Sears cartop carrier in the past and I preferred this bag to that, plus this is easier to store between uses.
