Thule Square Bar Base Rack System Reviews

Solid and secure, but clumsy to set up

Reviewed By Andrew M (VICKSBURG, MS) Reviewed for a 2009 Volkswagen GTI —11/17/2012 8:39 PM

The Thule pads and roof bars are well-made and secure. But first time set-up and fitting is a major effort - plan on spending much of an afternoon. The instructions area bit cryptic. The new aero bars are great. I did not hear any whistling or moaning while driving on the freeway.

AWESOME

Reviewed By Dale S (Frisco, TX) Reviewed for a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta —5/1/2016 5:42 AM

I never thought I would buy one of these until a stray dog showed up & stayed. What? We use my wife's 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI for medium range travel. Now with two dogs it became necessary to rethink our operation. A new larger vehicle was out of the question. This was the PERFECT solution. It arrived undamaged in what could be the largest, most sturdy cardboard box I've ever seen. Installation was straight forward & our first trip was a success.

Thule Stretch Cargo Net Reviews

Good purchase, but could be slightly improved

Reviewed By Gregory G (BAKERSFIELD, CA) Reviewed for a 2013 Volkswagen Touareg —6/29/2015 8:36 AM

The net does what it is supposed to do and has a reasonable price. I had to pull it under the cargo basket to tighten it up. While the net became tight, the clips are plastic and started to slightly bend. I traveled for 350 miles and everything was fine, but I'm concerned about repeated use breaking the plastic clips. Would be great if they put better clips like a bungee cord has. I would suggest using two crank ties under the net.
