We decided to take the dog to the beach this year so I needed cargo room and purchased the Thule 1200. It was a breeze to put on the 4Runner factory rack and it never moved. We have a home on 4X4 area at the OBX so it was bounced around pretty well. Never moved. We were able to load up the carrier with stuff which would have been in the back (dog was there this year). Very happy with the purchase. Matches the 4Runner's color (not a big deal, but looks nice). Light, at about 36 pounds I was able to put it on the rack and store it by myself.Very happy and would highly recommend.

I bought this cargo box (my first one ever) to store some of my wife's and children's belongings for a recent family trip. This box helped free up some space on the inside of the car, and gave me free access to our stuff during the entire length of the trip. For the price, this box is great, and is a great beginner box for anyone starting to get acquainted with traveling long distances and holding gear.Drove through some heavy rains over the course of my first trip with the box and, for the most part, the box remained dry (there was some minor drip leakage, nothing to ruin my stuff though). I was impressed with its construction.Highly recommended and the price can not be beat.

Carrier showed up in 5 working days just in time for our trip. Went on very easy - attached to our std roof crossbars. Clamps to the bars from inside the carrier so when it's locked shut, can't be removed without key to get in the box. Can fit a surprising amount of stuff in it! It sounds quieter on the road with the carrier on than it does with just our rack crossbars alone. Haven't checked what it does to mileage yet, but I made sure to get the size model that wouldn't hang over the front windshield but was back from the windshield a bit so as to be more aerodynamic. Very satisfied. Now I've got to find a place to store it!

I bought this to create more space for 2 dogs in the car on a 10 hour drive. The carrier was pretty easy to install, it is lightweight so if you had to, you could lift it on the roof yourself. The instructions were easy enough to follow but the biggest shock was how much luggage you can store in the carrier. It is slim, not bulky, and yet I put a set of golf clubs, two medium sized bags, two boxes of shoes, a clothes garment bag and comforters in there for the drve and had a littl eroom to spare! It does not create any extra noise (I did not use the wind defelctors that supposedly minimize sound)and I am extremely happy with the purchase. I would recommend this to everyone and anyone, especially those of you with kids or pets.

I had a little trouble hooking it up the first time. It was my fault, I over thought about it. It was a lot more simple then I was making it. After that everything was great. We traveled over 800 miles without a problem or a noise. It was awesome, then we hit some rain. Not a torrential downpour, but a steady rain and we were traveling about 75 miles per hour. I figured we were fine. Well I was wrong. many of our bags were wet and since I hadnt made any extra precautions, like putting a tarp over the luggage, some of our clothes were wet. I guess you can't have it all.Next time, I will use the carrier, but I'll put a little extra protection between my bags and the weather.
