Yakima LoadWarrior Cargo Basket Customer Reviews

Highways have become battle grounds, so you need to be ready for war when you head out on your road trips and camping excursions. With the Yakima LoadWarrior Cargo Basket as your wingman, you can lock and load a ton of gear on top of your vehicle. It's capable of holding up to 3 bikes at a time, or 2 kayaks and 1 bike, or even 1 bike and a junior ICBM.
The Yakima LoadWarrior Cargo Basket is built like a tank. Heavy-duty steel bars are welded into place, forming the hull of this cargo-carrying beast. The steel is weather treated to withstand any assault by Mother Nature. And, you get a rugged wind fairing that cuts down on wind whistle, so you can motor around with greater stealth.
It doesn't take the brains of Military Intelligence to mount your LoadWarrior. The universal attachment system fits easily onto round, square and most factory crossbars. What's more, Yakima designed your LoadWarrior Cargo Basket for upgrades. You can go big with the extended length basket for over 5 ft. of storage space, and keep your gear secure with the locking bracket and cargo net. Lifetime Warranty.

I ordered this when we moved our daughter to college 1000 miles away. We were able to get all of our luggage on top and it felt very secure. We did purchase the extender, security locks, and netting. I used straps that I already owned to secure it even more.

We were able to load this rack with the larger/bulkier items, which freed up quite a bit of space in the cab. On the bottom level alone, we were able to place 2 (large) tents, 2 chairs and 2 inflatable mats while all mostly behind the wind deflector. On top of that we stacked sleeping bags and were nowhere near the weight limit of the rack or the support bars. Large and worth it.

The cargo basket is very sturdy and easy to put together. It's a little challenging to install especially by yourself. This rack DOES NOT FIT properly on the Thule Aeroblade Base Rack (7501, 7502). I had to flip one of the brackets to the inside so it wouldn't end up on top of the rack end piece which would not be secure. Seemed to work OK. People highly recommended the cargo net which I bought but you need quite a pile of stuff to make it tight enough to be secure so I invested in some heavy

I got it for my 2012 Subaru Outback. I have Yakima accessories for my other cars and have never been thrilled about Yakima's prices in general but I'm very happy with the value of this cargo basket from AutoAnything - the price was the lowest I could find and the rack was more sturdy than expected. I just hauled my son's stuff up to college with it, roomy enough for 2 trunks/duffel/other stuff. Wind noise minimal. Will use for my canoe next weekend. I recommend spending extra for the locks.

First, we had a question about it fitting our Honda CRV, since the factory roof bars don't adjust. I posted this on Autoaanything's LiveChat and got a response in 5 seconds - very helpful (turns out there is some flexibility in how you position the rack on crossbars). The rack is solidly built, looks great, and was fairly easy to install. I like the fact that you can add ski racks and other accessories right to it.

I purchased the Load Warrior to carry golf clubs for trips. I purchased the extension because I needed the extra length. With the extension it fits great overall but might hinder using the top storage box. Very easy to install, looks good, doesn't make any noise. I would recommend this.

Rack goes together easy and installed quickly on Subaru Outback. Recently hauled a small footlocker and several dry bags 1200 miles. Wind noise is noticeable but, expected. Does not come with net so that was a separate purchase although, I used ratchet straps to secure load.
