I have used KN air filters in the past and have always been satisfied with their performance and value.

I recently purchased an FIPK for my 2005 BMW 325i from AutoAnything and I also got one of these filter covers. You can call it a pre-filter for sure because it does add an extra layer of protection. The material is excellent and this is a must have item if you have one of these filters in your car. The only thing is it is a bit pricey at almost $30, now if it was $10-$15 I think it would be a lot more reasonable. Personally I wouldn't think about having a cold air exhaust without one of these!!

I didn't want to bother with the cleaning and oiling of the K&N filter that was installed in my car. AFE had the perfect replacement and installation was easy. I cleaned my MAF at the time of installation and and got a better idle as well, and I believe this was due to the oil from the K&N filter contaminating the wires.
