Hypertech Max Energy Programmer Reviews

Very good product for the money

Reviewed By Richard B (Denham Springs, LA) Reviewed for a 2010 Ford F-350 —12/30/2009 7:31 AM

The only reason I didn't rate this product as excellent across the board is the fuel mileage. On my 2010 F-350 dually I was getting 10.8 mpg on the interstate with cruise set on 70 mph. I was expecting up to a 6mpg as advertised. On my most recent trip of 140 miles I only got 12.3 mpg. Now when you back down to 55 mph and reset the mpg display on the dash you can see mpg's up to 17, but you can't drive 55 on the interstate or your dead meat! Power on the other hand is just fine. I pull a 30 foot gooseneck and haul farm tractors (we are a Mahindra dealer) and the first tractor I delivered was without the programmer and I was disappointed in the performance of my new truck. I previously had an 02 Chevy Duramax with a Hypertech programmer in it and it would walk off and leave the Ford. I ordered the hyperteck Max Energy programmer and installed it and delivered a 45 horse cab tractor. The difference was night and day. I am no longer disappointed in the Ford. Makes you wonder why the don't do this at the facory?

Well worth it for 2005 V-8, 5.4 Triton SRW 4x4 with K&N CAI

Reviewed By Ben M (WINGETT RUN, OH) Reviewed for a 2005 Ford F-350 —9/26/2014 7:53 AM

If you have this truck with the 5.4, you will take any improvements you can get on these windy, hilly roads in SE Ohio. Tested truck repeatedly on a 3/4 mile hill with a 8% grade, driving as though I would normally unloaded using 93 octane. Stock from stop: 3900RPMs at 31 mph, no acceleration available without downshift VS Performance: 3100RPM at 37 mph and accelerated without changing gears. Mileage XS gets about 1mpg better. Heavy towing setting make huge difference with 10000lbs. Worth it!

Edge Evolution

Overall a great programmer for a mostly stock truck. Pretty simple installation if you take your time. The fact of only being capable of 100hp is not too great but if it's for a daily driver or to just add on a few extra mpg's then it's perfect.
