I have airbags in the side of my car seat. Can I still get sheepskin seat covers?
Of course. Blue Ribbon Sheepskin recognizes that many of the newer seats have airbags built into the car seat itself. Our sheepskin seat covers will not interfere with the deployment of the air bag and are designed not to cover that portion of the car seat. If your car seat does have an airbag, the only style available is the 5 STAR Sheepskin Seat Covers.
What is the difference between the 3 STAR and the 5 STAR sheepskin seat covers and how will it affect me?
A custom made set of sheepskin seat covers is just that, custom made for your specific, year, make, and model. This means that a
sheepskin seat cover
for a 1996 BMW 540i will not necessarily fit a 1997 BMW 540i. They changed the pattern that year to accommodate for a new seat. Blue Ribbon Sheepskin has a pattern for virtually every vehicle dating back to 1970.
How do the sheepskin seat covers attach to my car seat?
Blue Ribbon Sheepskin seat covers were ingeniously designed with a very advanced strapping system. There are six straps on your sheepskin seat cover, none of which will be visible once installed. Two straps attach under the car seat from the front of the seat, two through the break of the seat and under the seat, and two from the side and under the car seat.
If your vehicle has a plastic molded housing around the outside of the bottom cushion, such as a BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes Benz, instead of having a hook at the end of the strap, there will be a white pouch. Inside the white pouch is a collapsible lodging bar. When installing this pouch, simply depress the lodging bar inside the white pouch, place it as far down between the outside frame of the car seat and the cushion. This will form an interlocking attachment to secure your sheepskin seat cover.
How do I clean my sheepskin seat covers?
Remove small stains with spot remover. Dry clean sheepskin seat covers only when necessary. Your sheepskin seat covers, made with natural genuine sheepskin, should be allowed to breathe. Freshness is maintained by leaving your car windows slightly open wherever possible. By lightly brushing with a wire or other hard brush your seat covers will remain full and fluffy. Sprinkling with corn meal or baking soda, brushing and vacuuming from time to time removes loose dust and dirt. Should your sheepskin seat covers become wet, tumble dry on NO HEAT setting or lay out to dry OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT. Vacuum seat covers regularly. If sheepskin seat covers (driver and passenger) are identical, rotate every year.
What is the warranty on these sheepskin seat covers?
Your sheepskin seat covers are guaranteed against defective materials (broken straps, loose stitching, broken rings, torn leather) and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. NOTE: Sheepskin Covers are manufactured from natural genuine sheepskin that has been dyed and some color fade will occur. Such fade should be expected and does not constitute a defective material within the meaning of this warranty. WARNING: Due to possible bleeding of the darker colored dyes used in the sheepskin, it is highly recommended to use the darker colored seat covers (black, brown, navy, burgundy, and midnight gray) on dark seats ONLY.
Are your sheepskin seat covers lined?
Yes, all of our sheepskin seat covers are lined with cotton. The lining is attached to the sheepskin seat cover at the seams. It is not ironed on. Our lining has no adhesive agents. Our sheepskin seat cover lining is cut to the size of each individual piece of sheepskin and attached as each piece is sewn together.
Are your web site sheepskin colors accurate?
Yes, our web site colors are very accurate. However, if you have an older monitor or are using out dated browser software, then variations may occur.
What happens if I receive my sheepskin seat covers and they do not fit?
If your sheepskin seat covers do not fit, we will promptly issue a call tag and have them picked up. We will then determine the problem and either fix the seat covers, or make you new sheepskin covers.
Will your sheepskin seat covers harm my leather car seats?
No, sheepskin seat covers will not harm leather car seats. Many people use sheepskin seat covers for leather car seats.
How do I remove my seat headrest from my Mercedes or BMW?
The electric MBZ/BMW headrest comes out in one of two ways.
The first thing you need to do is to raise the Headrest to the top using the electric switch on the car seat.
Once the Headrest is fully extended, you need to go to the back seat and face the seat back of the driver
seat that is directly in front of you.
You need to look at the left Headrest post (door side) that is at the top of the car seat.
If you draw an imaginary line from that post down the backrest of the car seat,
in approximately 10-12" you will see a lump underneath the upholstery.
This is a button that will release the Headrest.
You will push the button and then pull the Headrest out.
This is typically how the older MBZ Headrests are released.
If you look on the backrest and cannot see or feel where the bump is, then the Headrest
is released by what we call the clean and jerk method.
That means that you raise the Headrest to the top using the electric motor, and then you kneel on
the front seat, grab both HR post, and then give a firm shake and pull the HR upward at the same time.
This will release the latch and the HR will come undone.
This again is only the case if there is no button on the backside of the seat.
When putting the HR back in the seat, the method is the same, regardless which way the Headrest is removed.
You want to lower the Headrest until it naturally stops where the motor meets the post.
You then want to tap on the top of the Headrest until you can feel the posts click into their latches.
You will often hear, as well as feel, this happen. Then, you want to lower the Headrest using the electric motor.
