Description

Summer isn’t really endless. When winter finally rolls around, it’s time to park your bikes and strap on your snow-carving sticks. Instead of forking over the cash for a dedicated ski carrier, you can upgrade your bike rack with the Thule Hitch Ski & Snowboard Rack. This ingenious holder transforms your Thule Revolver, Ridgeline Roadway, Parkway or Spare Me rack into a full-blown snow sports carrier.

Whether you’re itching to slalom down hill on your skis or shred a snowy half-pipe, the Thule Hitch Ski & Snowboard Rack can hold your gear. It carries up to 6 pairs of skis or 4 snowboards at once. Plus, its extended load bracket works with even the thickest ski bindings for a solid, secure fit.

For added protection against snow pirates, the Thule Hitch Ski & Snowboard Rack sports locking arms. There’s even a pre-load rubber strap to hold your skis in place while you lock the arms down. And, Thule covers your Hitch Ski & Snowboard Rack with a Lifetime Warranty.

I have the Thule Parkway (4-bike) bike rack on my 2006 Ford Escape and bought the Thule Hitch Ski and Snowboard Rack because I wanted to carpool with friends for ski trips. The rack easily attached to my bike rack (took about 20 minutes total) because it just slips right over the bike rack and attaches with a few brackets. Please note (specifically for ski racers who use race bindings on their skis) that this rack will only fit ONE pair of race binding skis per side (NOT three pairs of skis like shown in photographs). They are too thick to fit into the rack back to back (like displayed) so you have to place two skis next to one another. You may be able to fit one additional pair of skis next to those (if they do not have race bindings)! If you are carrying snowboards, you will have no problem hauling FOUR snowboards. I snowboard and my husband skis so this is a handy rack for hauling both types of equipment. One other note is that you need to beware of clearance heights in parking garages because the skis will stick out higher than six feet while sitting in the rack! My final assessment is that the rubber straps that are provided to hold your equipment in place are not strong. One strap snapped on our 2 hour drive to the ski resort and we had to pull over on the side of the road and use another strap so the snowboards weren't whipping around in the wind. The wind does cause a ton of swaying motion on the rack, but that didn't seem to be a problem. Overall, this is a very nice rack, super easy to install to your bike rack, and very quick and smooth for loading and unloading equipment! I would recommend for those who frequently travel on ski trips! The rack even comes with keys so you can easily lock in your equipment if you plan to stop and eat somewhere along the way.

I bought this hitch rack because we use a top mount luggage carrier already. I have an Allen bike rack and this Thule Ski Rack attached to it with only minor adjustments(I removed 1 set of bike pads). The hardware fit perfectly after that and we just returned from a ski trip(6 hours each way) and carried six sets of skis with no problems.
