Skyjacker Hydro 7000 Steering Stabilizers Reviews

Pleased with product despite needed modification

Reviewed By Johnathan M (Jacksonville, FL) Reviewed for a 1988 Ford F-150 —1/11/2011 9:40 AM

I put this dual steering stabilizer kit on my 88 F-150. I have a 8" susp lift along with a 3" body on 40" tires on 14" wide rims. My truck is going to have poor steering, I'm content with that. These steering stabilizers didn't help much with the constant struggle fighting my steering wheel, which I will continue to have with such wide tires, but I noticed a HUGE difference in the sudden "jerk" in the steering wheel due to potholes, grooves in the road, etc. I have also noticed the steering is alot tighter in the corners than before. Before the skyjackers, I had a dual set of procomps, but I did not make the modifications I did with the skyjackers. I had to weld two of the drop brakets together to fix the geometry of the steering stabilizers (strait across rather than at a severe tilt). Aside from that, the procomps were over five years old and didn't seem to hold up to the quality that the skyjackers offer from what I have noticed already. I love this product and recommend it to everyone with an extreme lift, even if you have to make additional modifications like I did.

straight and narrow

it seems to have done the trick. Now at 85-90 mph the truck steers better and I don't have to fight the wheel.
