Great Quality

"I have a 10-year-old BMW 528 where the only thing wrong was a split in the leather on the steering wheel from the sun. This wheel cover was perfect. Good tight fit. Good soft feel. It looks as good as the original. It does take about 45 mins to an hour to put it on but ut is well worth the time. You have to lace pretty carefully and pull every stitch tight to get stretch the leather around all the way."

Advice for application

Posted on 07/31/2008 by Todd C. - 2000 BMW 3-Series (Williamsburg,VA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"The directions accompanied with the product are very good and detailed “Read them”. What I did outside of the directions was to apply a liberal amount of a quality leather conditioner to the back of the “Wheelskin” Makes it a little more pliable and easier to work with. One of the things I found is getting started with threading is slightly more difficult than it sounds. Meaning that it is difficult to get the “Wheelskin” pulled together really tight in the beginning. It gets easier the further you get into it. Takes a bit to realize that the waxed “string“provided is really strong stuff. Takes some effort, time and attention to detail but looks really nice when finished. I’d use their product again with out hesitation."

Worth The Work

Posted on 07/29/2008 by Richard S. - 1996 Volkswagen Passat (Frankfort,KY)

"I got a Wheelskins cover for my 1996 VW Passat. It took longer than advertised to sew it on to my steering wheel: total time almost three hours. Several times, I had to go back, loosen several stitches and reposition the edges of the cover. I had a small pair of smooth, round-jawed needle-nose pliers which turned out to be indispensable, as I could pull each stitch much closer that I could have with my bare fingers. The end result was easily worth the work, however. The cover is tight and smooth and feels great under my hands while I drive. No comparison with the six dollar faux leather one-size-fits-all cover from WalMart that I had been using."

Worth the money

Posted on 07/24/2008 by Robert B. - 2007 Ford F-150 (Tulsa,OK)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"The wheelskins Cover I bought was much more than I bargained for. This was the fourth brand bought. The others would not fit the wheel right. It left too much open area in the stitching. The wheelskins fit tight, looks made for the vehicle, and took probably about 45 minutes to install. Looks great and feels great. Worth every penny it cost me. If this one ever wears out, I will definitely buy another one. Thanks again for a great product."

Very satisfied

Posted on 07/23/2008 by Christopher R. - 1995 Ford F-150 (Morrilton,AR)

"I installed one of these on my '95 F-150. It fit perfectly, feels great, and looks awesome. The installation instructions were clear and complete. It took about an hour to put it on. Other steering wheel covers don't even come close to the quality and comfort of Wheelskins."

Volvo C70

Posted on 07/22/2008 by William A. (Calabasas,CA)

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful.

"My 1999 Volvo C70 steering wheel had been worn down to a black sticky mess in some places. I ordered a new cover on the Wheelskins website. I entered the required info and was told to order a size AXX. I received the cover a few days later. When I tried to install it, the cover was not wide enough for my wheel. I called Wheelskins and spoke to a pleasant person who after a few questions said she would send me a larger size (C) right away. Also included with the new cover was postage to send the first cover back to Wheelskins. The new size cover fit perfectly. All in all a very good outcome. Just be sure to check for variations in wheel size versus Wheelskins database."

They're a little extra work to put on, but well worth the effort

Posted on 07/14/2008 by Brenda W. - 2008 Toyota Prius (Roseville,CA)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"I purchased two. One for my new Prius which is a smaller than standard steering wheel size and one for my Lexus. I bought the plain black style for both. I'm very impressed the the final look and results. My new Prius already has leather on the steering wheel, but I wanted to protect it with the wheelskin. My lexus also has leather on the steering wheel, but it is damaged by the previous owners - the leather is degrading and "sticky" feeling. I replace a slip-on wheel cover on my Lexus with the wheelskin - it's MUCH nicer...It's becomes a custom fit. After installing two of them, my hands and fingers are sore (from pulling the lace tight), but very much worth the time and effort."

Challenging Install, but Worth It

Posted on 07/10/2008 by Larrence M. (Long Beach,CA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"Took about 1 3/4 hours to carefully install on my 4Runner. Use a mirror to see the top back of the cover as you install it by feel - I made and had to re-do a couple of errors before I thought of using a mirror. Overall result was excellent - great fit and feel on the wheel."

Wheelskin Critical Review

Posted on 07/08/2008 by Craiq B. - 2003 Mercedes-Benz 320 (Boston,MA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I was confident before ordering, but once I received this wheelskin I could tell by the smell of the leather that it would work out. It fit tightly and the wax twine really helps during installation. My color selection matched the dashboard perfectly - looks like it was meant for the vehicle. After a few days it seems like the heat from the sun tightened it even more, a great product. By the way I installed it on a 2003 Mercedes Benz"

Worked perfectly

Posted on 07/02/2008 by Joseph N. - 1999 Toyota Avalon (Hohokus,NJ)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I received the item within two or three days, and the color I was expecting was exactly what I received. The quality of the piece is excellent. The instructions on how to do this were clear and left nothing to the imagination. This was my first wheelskin job, so it took me about two and a half hours to get it done. Also, the 99 Avalon has two particularly wide supports to work around, and that added some time. Even so, what really makes this work so well is the waxed twine. The instructions say to make sure the skin is tied on tightly, and the waxed twine locks in each stitch, so you can follow their instructions. Remeber, when going around a spoke, if you make a dummy stitch, make sure you skip the corrosponding hole on the other side. Be patient. I have to admit to having a great deal of fun doing this project. It came out so well, I'm actually looking for other steering wheels to work on. Great product, and made in the good old USA to boot."

What a Great Product!

Posted on 07/01/2008 by Josephine G. - 1989 Jeep Wrangler (Stephentown,NY)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"This was a gift for my boyfriend for Father's Day. I told him that the reviews said it would take about a couple of hours, so he figured maybe a half day. He was done in an hour and a half and was so pleased at how luxurious and professional this cover looked. What a great fit, too - looks like the steering wheel was manufactured that way! We'd highly recommend this product."

Good, but doesn't Fit Perfectly

Posted on 06/25/2008 by Christopher K. - 1998 Ford F-150 (Winston Salem,NC)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"The leather quality was good, but if your wheel has spokes over about two inches in width, the cover isn't going to fit snugly. Eventually the leather flattened out some, but the gap in the stitching is still obvious. It is still far superior to any slip on cover you can buy."
