Top notch Steering Wheel cover

Posted on 05/04/2008 by Mark W. - 2007 Volkswagen Jetta (Margate,FL)

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.

"Excellent excellent, install was just under an hour, the result was well worth the work. I've purchaed and installed inferior laced wheel covers from local Auto stores; the lace and the covers did not even come close to the Wheelskin wrap, the feel, quality and strenght of the Wheelskin cover are pretty much factory speced. Definately pull tight, don't worry about the lace braking, or the eyelets tearing, they won't. I'm actually about to purchase another Wheelskin cover to replace the cheap cover on my car (this one was for the wife's car). Definately worth the money! Highly recommend!!! Mark Margate, Fl"

Well worth the effort.

Posted on 04/21/2008 by Robert L. - 1997 Cadillac STS (Atlanta,GA)

"The instructions say to allow a full hour to install and they are right. However, taking the time to really cinch the stitches was worth every bit of the effort. Fit was very precise and color matched perfectly. I installed on a 1997 Seville and very pleased with the result. Wish I had found this years earlier. The new shine makes the entire interior look years newer."

I like them

Posted on 04/18/2008 by Karen H. - 1989 Jeep Wrangler (Avery,CA)

"They are much nicer and seem sturdier once you get them on. It sticks and feels good. The installation did take a little time, but I just did it slowly and it came together well. My old steering cover was old and dirty, so I might be biased toward any new one, however my husband likes it, also."

Wheelskins a real pain to install

Posted on 04/17/2008 by Erik B. - 2008 Jeep Patriot (Bethel Park,PA)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"First off let me say the quality of the leather Wheelskins cover is excellent...however the seam where the leather comes together is folded over and sewn inside the cover making this area VERY DIFFICULT to get tight and laced properly, as it is nearly twice as thick there than any other part of the cover. Although the directions say begin lacing anywhere but where that seam is, I'd recommend starting there...to be sure you can get it tight before moving along. My first installation attempt took about 2 hours to lace up the cover, and even after being super meticulous about keeping it tight and maintaining a perfect stitch pattern, I only left the cover on for about 30 seconds before being disgusted by it's appearance and cutting it back off. I will say that if my wheel didn't have 4 fat spokes (Jeep Patriot) that I think I could have had much better results. It's no surprise the wheels shown in pics have smaller round spokes. Any wheel with fat multiple spokes will give you trouble. Wheelskins was very nice about sending me a replacement lace and needle though so I plan to give the cover to my dad and let him have a go of it on his new Cobalt. All in all I was satisfied with what I got for my money, but don't kid yourself into thinking it will ever look like a factory wrapped wheel. It's a cheap way out...and looks like it to most enthusiasts. Also...DEFINITELY wear gloves or tape your fingers up when lacing the cover. Pulling the lace tight repeatedly will give you severe blisters. This is possibly my most important piece of advice. You might not think it's hurting your fingers at all...until 30 minutes after you're done and two chunks of flesh fall off each hand. Good luck."

Excellent product!

Posted on 04/16/2008 by Catherine J. (Webster Grvs,MO)

"I purchased this with a little bit of trepidation, but considering how my steering wheel had seen better days, I realized that I had nothing to lose. When I received my Wheelskin cover for my 1998 Volvo I immediately installed it. Since I have been sewing for most of my life, the mechanics were quite simple and I quickly had it installed in less than 30 minutes. I am impressed with the feel and look of the wheel cover and have enjoyed a hint of that "new" leather smell everytime I get into my car. Thank you for a wonderful product."

Good solution to bad factory steering wheel

Posted on 04/16/2008 by Karla Poore M. - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder (Columbia,MO)

"The color was very accurately pictured and fits well in my car. If you're willing to put in the time to sew the cover on, it comes out looking and feeling good. All the materials were strong and they look like they will hold up well. Looks better than any other non-factory covers I've seen."

"I wrote a negative review about the cover because it was too large. I expected some sort of feedback but having received none I emailed the manufacturer who responded immediately. They were very concerned and offered to send a replacement without having me return the original. I received the replacement and it fits fine. That is one company that I respect."

Posted on 04/11/2008 by Robert H. - 1996 BMW 3-Series (Dade City,FL)

"I installed this on by BMW and it looks and feels better than the original steering wheel. It was very easy to install, just take your time and think ahead of hole locations. I plan on getting them for my other 4 cars. I shopped around alot, and trust me, get one before they change their mind on the price. It's worth more, alot more."

Lumina Wheelskins Steering Wheel Cover

Posted on 04/04/2008 by Carl E. - 1995 Chevy Lumina (Waco,TX)

"The wheelskin cover was as advertized, it installed in a reasonable amount of time, and fits well. However, upon closer inspection (after installation. . .sadly), it has a noticeable 1 inch blemish (probably a scar caused by barbed wire in the original hide from which the cover was made) right at eye level at the top of the steering wheel :( Had I inspected the cover more closely before installation, I could have installed the cover so the blemish was on the back side of the steering wheel(from the drivers point of view). Summing up: the covers are nice but not perfect."

Very Happy with purchase

Posted on 04/03/2008 by Andre B. - 1997 Dodge Ram (Dover,MA)

"I bought the cover becasue my original steering wheel was starting to wear after 190k. My truck is still in excellent shape and I didn't want the cheap covers you buy in stores. I really like the leather, it matches the original cover and it was not too hard to install, well worth the effort. My only negative thought is I wish I had bought it a year sooner and not had to live with the wearing I have seen."
