I Wheelskinned my 1992 Porsche 964 steering wheel

Reviewed By Dean L (Sun City West, AZ) Reviewed for a 1992 Porsche 911 —4/25/2016 9:15 PM

My 24 year old Porsche 964 steering wheel is/was in a sorry, faded state from sun exposure (it's a Cabriolet). I searched for a replacement wheel from several dismantlers to no avail, so I decided to give a Wheelskin cover a try. I watched the Wheelskin installation video several times before tackling the job, which was a big payoff for me since I was a real rookie at this task. I think the install went great, looks great and took many years off the appearance of my car's interior.

Not all steering wheels are 'universal'

Reviewed By Susan S (SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI) —5/19/2017 4:12 PM

I do not like plastic steering wheels! Purchased a Prius and the first thing I did was buy a cover from a retail auto chain. When I returned it, I got the "it should be warmed up" schpeel. I am soooo glad my only option was to lace. It takes patience & concentration to do. You don't have to be afraid to pull it tight (to get the sides butted together) for a nice seam. You'll get the factory look and feel. Not bad for a woman! :D

Took some heavy prying.

Reviewed By Greg R. S (ARKANSAS CITY, KS) Reviewed for a 2006 Ford F-350 —5/14/2017 10:45 AM

The cover fits firmly on steering wheel, but took some heavy prying to get it on. Also the cover has a strong smell, fells the cab up with foul smell. Used zip ties as holding cover in places as prying the cover on.
