I am interested in getting a supercharger for my 2012 ss camaro, but I have 22" rims on it already. I was wondering if by me having the rims on my car will it affect the performance of the supercharger 1, and 2 will it mess up my transmission by having the rims on my car?
Answered by Nathan S. — Aug 08, 2012 12:01 PM
Total diameter will of course include the installed tire on the rim. As an example, most truck owners who have installed 35" wheels (rim and tire assembly) will notice a reduction in performance due to the mechanical disadvantage imparted after switching out their factory wheels. A larger diameter wheel will turn at a slower ratio which will also cause inaccurate speedometer readings. Drivetrain components will wear at a faster rate as more engine torque will have to be applied to yield the same results. I don't think you are making a radical change and shouldn't experience a noticeable difference in drivetrain wear as long as you match the factory wheel diameter with your oversized rims and low profile tires as closely as possible and drive responsibly.
flagAnswered by Corbin D — Jul 19, 2012 7:43 PM 2006 Ford F-150
A regear will not be neccessary nor a pcm correction for speedometer purposes if you kept the same size tire. Your car comes with a 28.7" tall tire, it doesn't matter if you have 22" tall wheels, 17" tall wheels, or 27" tall wheels. As long as you kept a tire with the same diameter your gear ratio is the same and your transmission won't notice any added strain except for maybe the few extra pounds your 22" wheels may weigh, and considering they can come with 21"s from the factory there could hardly be a difference unless you bought some cheap steel wheels. Even then a few extra pounds of wheel weight would hardly strain your tranny.

I've checked out many sites but all I've seen are cars like fords and chevys, along with trucks. is it possible to install the system on an import car such as an 08 scion tc?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jun 29, 2012 7:04 AM
We do not offer a Whipple listing for the Scion Tc yet. I know how difficult it is to find a roots style supercharger for a four cylinder application. The good news is that Greddy offers a roots blower for the Scion Tc but be warned, it is expensive. We do offer programmers, cat back exhaust and cold air intake systems that might provide the level of performance that you are looking for, while saving you plenty of gas money to fill that Scion up.

The Whipple supercharger sounds great but the warranty makes me a little worried. I live in Canada and my Camaro spends over half the year in storage. One year don't seem like much for people in my situation. So I guess my question is why only a 1 year warranty and not a 3 year like Magna Chargers offers? Is Whipple as reliable as the Magna? Thanks for your help!!

im looking for a twinscrew supercharger for this truck and i cant find one anywhere are there any reasons why?
Answered by Nathan S. — May 21, 2012 12:26 PM
My only guess would be demand for the product. Most superchargers used on the traditional ford small block platform are custom built centrifugal systems, or roots blowers with throttle body injection.

It looks like there may be something that is preventing Whipple from making a kit for the G8. Its hard to say what the reason is for sure but it could be any number of things including hood clearance.

What is included in thekit? What is the model number of the Supercharger? What is involved with the installation and dose it require a special tune to be loaded into the vechicle's on-board computer? Please advise.

The kit comes with a W140AX (140ci)supercharger for the F-150 Lightning and Harley Davidson models ONLY as they came with the lower compression 5.4L V8 (8.4:1 compression) and use a different ECU. All necessary parts and a flash programmer are included for a simple installation.
