Description

Oversized tires are the trademark look of a lifted rig. Unfortunately, they can have a mind of their own. Reign-in control of your big bad tires with Rancho's Steering Stabilizer and discover stock-style handling with the dominating looks and clearance of massive tire size.

Bolting between your frame and main steering system, the Rancho Steering Stabilizer reduces common vibration from tires up to 35" in size. Arm fatigue and strain are immediately reduced, boosting overall control.

Rancho Steering Stabilizers employ their famous RS5000 Shocks in a horizontal design for on or off-road control. They're available in a single stabilizer design for most vehicles, or a double stabilizer setup for extreme off-roading in select models. Replacement stabilizers are also available for pre-equipped rigs.

Installation is a straightforward project with all hardware and custom instructions included. Best yet, your Rancho Steering Stabilizer boasts a Lifetime Warranty.

Single Vs. Double

"I bought the single stabilizer. The installation was fairly simple. However I am currently running 315/70 R17’s and I don’t think the single is enough. I can still feel some vibration in the wheel and would recommend the double for 34-35+” tires. Even with the single it still handles night and day better than the stock stabilizer."

Fix Your "Death Wobble"

"If you have ever experienced "Death Wobble", have no bad steering parts ie; bad ball joints, tie rod ends, etc., then this is the fix for you ! I installed the dual shocks pictured above & it stopped the wobble Right Now. They're Very simple to install & took about 1/2 hour. The only noticeable difference in steering was as slightly slower return of the steering wheel when coming out of a sharp turn on takeoff, like at an intersection. But Anything beats what these so easily corrected."

"Everthing went well except that the 2 metal sleeves provided were not the same size and they needed to be for my truck. I just removed one from my exisitng stabilizer and used it though. Truck is still stock height however has slightly lager tires now and ride was pretty rough until I installed this stabilizer."

Ford F350 Steering Shimmy

Posted on 10/09/2007 by Curt H. - 2005 Ford F-250 (Marlboro,MA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I have a 2006 Ford F350 Crew cab with a 6.0 Power Stroke. My truck has a total of 10,500 miles to date with an irritating steering wheel shimmy that is getting progressively worse with time. I replaced the OEM shimmy damper with a new unit from Rancho. The installation was a snap yielding virtually no more shimmy when going over uneven pavement. My last truck was a F250 with the same specs as the F350 with the exception of the FX4 package that includes the Rancho damper and work just fine for 75K miles. It just tells you that the OEM damper and the shocks are junk. I will be replacing in the near future all the shocks with a new set from Rancho. It is disappointing that the EOM stock units are of such a poor quality! After all what to want for the money?"

My Different reason for getting this!

Posted on 09/04/2007 by Andrew B. - 1999 Ford Expedition (Roswell,GA)

"Have a stock 1999 Ford Expedition 4WD. Just installed steering damper Labor Day weekend. Noticed right away that steering buckled down quite a bit on the test drive. My application for my vehicle is to tow a travel trailer (25 ft) and wanted something that tamed the "bowl of jello" I was driving. Seems to work well unloaded. Have not tested it with a trailer in back, but expect good results (this is the reason for 4/5 stars). Going over bumps and dips on roads yielded a nice ride. Side note: The steering damper was the same as the regular Rancho 5000 shock - just a different SKU number! Installation: Clear instructions, assumed you know what the car parts are, but pictures were a big help. We installed it in less than a half an hour. Quick, and good "bang for the buck" handling option."
